momma squid - That coin should be done soon.  I submitted the USS Arizona, the USS Kearsarge, and the USS Reuben James about the same time.  I just got back the Arizona and the Kearsarge.  So I expect the Reuben James here shortly.  Once they seen a picture of the coin, I will either accept it or reject it.  I'm hoping to see it soon too....

Hey momma squid,

I only design the coins and make the story about them.  I have finished the design of the USS Reuben James Ship 2 about 1 1/2 weeks ago.  It was submitted to PIRGifts and they are the ones that get them made and sell them on Ebay.  So it is actually out of my hands now. To me, it should be coming out pretty soon.  It usually takes about 2 1/2 weeks before they send me a hand edged coin.  I review it one last time.  If I say it's ok, then they mint them.

The Reuben James should be approved immediately once they send me the hand edged copy.  That coin was the hardest one I had to do.  The reason is I had to get all 5 of the 900 division sailors (drill, choir, band, flags, staff) in a 1 3/4 area on a coin, but still make it visible to see.  It was incredibly hard.  But, I think it came out really nice what I submitted

So, it will be really close if I will have it in 2 weeks.

Yes, we are going to Sarge's meet and greet on Thursday.  My son is ship 03 div 298.  [e  H.  Hope to see you there.  I have only received the form letter with PIR information, no personal notes on letter.  Hope to receive a letter from my son soon.  I know he is doing well, he is a great young man.
