DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your email address (your probably made that change some time ago); you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

Since you have a Sailor, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted." You can make that change on the same page when you change the ZIP Code.

You may want to join USS Eisenhower- IKE Family, CARRIER Families!, and/or Norfolk Sailors - Family & Friends. What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well.

Jsmom - I am so sorry to hear about your son.  Please continue to encourage him and let him know to hold his head high and be proud of himself!  It's not just anyone who can make a committment to the Navy - his is a very honorable choice.  I've also heard that many who were dropped from the nuke problem went on to other jobs and were extremely happy (much less stress for one thing!).  Hang in there - and send him an extra hug from me.

That is such wonderful news!  So happy for him.  Your call should be coming in from him any time now!  Blessings to him as he moves on to A School.  Thanks so much for letting me know!

Hello! I read one of your posts that said your son was going to South Carolina after bootcamp. Is he going to nuke school? My husband is in Div 928 and gave me the names of two nukes. (He is going to nuke school in SC as well) I was trying to see if your son was one of them! If he is then I'll probably be meeting him down in SC soon, I wanted to see if there was a connection. :)

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)
If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.
