OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) to change "Anyone" to "Members" so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

I see you have joined San Antonio MA's. Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor was an MA. The discussion, Break down week by week, within San Antonio MA's will let you know what happens at NTTC Lackland (San Antonio). You will also want to join MAA Moms.

The Rating Information Card for MA can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf; it indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 7 weeks after classing up.

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.

What division is your recruit in?

You know I'm sorry to say but that is exactly what my son had been saying the whole time he was there, My son had mentioned he was bored. Everything there is repetative the folding clothes and all else they do. And was so furious because he said the grown men or just the guys would do the pettiest things never listened, he said his division was always in trouble because of the pettiness of others. he said he wish they would grow up or get out and quit wasting time. so I completly understand where your son is coming from. You know their are those struggling to stay in and pass and then you got those that have nothing better to do but act a fool, I dont undersand that? why waste time and effort, I'm not there but it irritates me. LOL

Keeping busy is a great thing, keeps from letting your mind run wild. while my son was in BC I finally decided ok let me go into this kids room, when I did OMG I got everything and started gutting it out. LOL my husband came home and said Woman what are you doing, I said we are going to do a project, when he went to see what I had done, he couldn't help but to slap his forehead. LOL and it was on from there, So when we found out while in A school he was coming for the Holidays we had to rush to get it all in place. it came out really nice, when my son came for the holidays he had to take a second look and was so surprised. My husband told me no more surprises with your project please. So that was my keeping busy. LOL

Good Morning YogaMom, everything went well, but this morning he woke a little cranky, I think the numbness went away so now he is feeling how sore it is. running a slight fever, but I think he will be fine. I have my Daughter watching him today. since you have received the Box, in a few days or weeks you will receive the form and security form. if for some reason you didn't receive the security form I will post it and you will need to print it because both forms will need to be sent at the same time. Thank You for asking about Grandson. If there is anything you are needing let me know. Keep your head up, all will be fine.

The Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), will help you with many of the new terms you will come across.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

If you would like information on your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.
