Since you have a Sailor, you can change "At Boot Camp now" above to “Enlisted.”

If you get an error message, then look at the area/s in the error message and unclick all of the choices in the area/s and make choices closer to the question/s. Some choices may have changed since you joined.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

If you would like information on your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Phoenixmom I appreciate it. I think the no phone call thing has to do with me. Thinking she doesn’t want to upset me more hearing the background. She definitely should be fine with the homesick issue since she loves to travel and goes on mission trips a lot. She a tough little cookie , tougher then me lol. She did just text me that she landed and loves me so that made me feel a little better. I really don’t know what I would do if I didn’t find this group. I appreciate all the advice and support.

Hi Tina, Thank You for friending me. I just want you to know we all understand the Emotions and the worry and anxiety that one goes thru. Believe me I was a total mess. these few week will be the hardest because all communication will be cut. and the Hardest part of all this "Is the not knowing" you have to stay busy or you will let this eat you up. It is easier said than done I know,  but you have to stay strong for you and your Daughter. Those that go in may have a feeling they know what will happen but actually it is more hard than what they thought. You mentioned she is not going to call you when she arrives? maybe it will be harder for her. If they notice while in training that they are getting depressed or missing home it may not be the best thing, they want to see if you can stay strong, this is part of the test "No communication". if ever you need to talk send me a message, I am here for you.

So it’s official my baby girl is headed off to boot camp. So many emotions watching her take the oath. Beyond proud that she is following her dreams. Any other moms who’s son/daughter left today?! Also not to much info was given. So not sure what to expect next. She does get a quick call tonight when she arrives correct? Then no calls till 3 wks?!

Thank you so much Angelia . That is a great idea!! I’m gonna tell my daughter tonight to definitely write the letter. She is the hotel tonight so hopefully she FaceTimes me lol. How the heck do we get through 8 wks of not talking to them?

Tina, you can definitely take pictures and even video the swearing in! When my son swore in on 3-28 the person conducting the swearing in made several references to parents taking pic and video, like turn and wave so your lived ones can take your picture, and say your name clearly so your loved ones can get it on video.
Enjoy the day and your future SR! Tell him/her to bring a pen and paper and write a note to you on the plane and stick it in the pocket of the pants he/she is wearing. When you get the clothes back in the box you will have something to enjoy.
