Wow - can it really be nearing the end of June? Time is once again, flying by! As a teacher, I am officially on summer break. I am glad for the break, but I get desperately bored in the summer. This week I am busy though. I am making preparations for my son's big send off party before he leaves for boot camp. Did you know party stores don't carry many items specific to Navy themes? That's okay though because patriotic red, white, and blue are EVERYWHERE! So, I have found a ton of adorable decorations. The party will be in July, in Florida. If anyone knows the kind of heat I am thinking about, you know we are sure to be melting. The location of the party is a wonderful place for outdoor parties, but dang, it is hot hot hot! I found some red, white, and blue folding fans to offer to guests. I am praying for a cloud cover, but no thunderstorms, which are numerous this time of year. We will see.

This time of year, the radio plays a load of patriotic songs since the fourth is around the corner. Of course, tears well up as I think of our boys (and girls) in blue or white. My heart nearly bursts with pride! It won't be long now, and my boy will be one of them. I went to a restaurant with my mom today. I noticed an older man sitting near us wearing a shirt with Navy embroidered on the front. I spoke to him and asked him about his former Navy career. He said it was the best time of his life. I love hearing that! I so wish that Aaron has the time of his life. As I walked away from the man, he wished us luck and I thanked him for his service. Suddenly, I was fighting a rising lump in my throat.

Tick tock...

We are so leading parallel lives!! Making Anchors Aweigh  party plans here, too!

I have noticed almost all folks that I speak to that are Navy vets do indeed refer

to their time serving as the best time of their lives! That really makes me feel great!

The calendar is totally freaking me out! The days are going by so quickly!!

I am excited, but it is bittersweet. Hard to let go.

hugs~Dale
