OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Aloha!

Received a letter from my daughter informing us that is is okay (thank you Jesus!)  She informed us with her  PIR date along with her ship/division# However, I still have not received the official letter.  Should I be concerned?  Would like to make travel arrangements but I read somewhere to wait.

Anxiously  waiting for the Office Letter!

you can also go to www.bootcamp.navy.mil  They have allot of information that you might find helpful..go to the family section and go through the prompts - you will find phone numbers to call that will help you...Our sailor's PIR is 8/12 - left on Father's Day, got my official letter 2 days later - maybe your's has been lost in the mail...hope this helps...we have booked our room at Ramada - so if anything changes, that can always be changed or cancelled.  They say to book a flight, that IS refundable if you have to cancel at short notice or reschedule so that you do not have to pay extra fees for changing...Blessings, Cindy

Yes they are, you can usually change it up to the day you arrive.Just double check when you make the reservation.I also called back to extend my stay till monday just incase my son doesn't ship till sunday. It's better to have the extra day that you can cancel then have to scramble at the last minute. The hampton inn libertyville gave us a good rate, make sure you mention graduation.Goodluck.        -Ruth

The letter looks like this. The password to print out the parking pass is on this letter.
