OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

MEPS
I have been good and waited to post to my blog until my daughter had a MEPS date. I was out of town for the holiday and she called me yesterday (Tuesday) to let me know she will go to MEPS tomorrow and Friday. The first of many "hurry up and wait" dates is almost here.
K is in college but is so ready to start her Navy career. She is hoping for Cryptography (depending on her DLABs) or something in Intelligence. Her back up choices are Aviation and Gunner's Mate. I am hoping Cryptography and/or Intel is available for her. She knows many, many Sailors who have advised her to wait until her rate is open but she is so anxious to start, I am afraid she will sign for any job. Hopefully by Friday her nerves will be settled and she makes the decisions that are right for her now and in the years to come.

My husband has been to MEPS twice so far. First to take his ASVAB, then to take his physical and tomorrow morning he is going to hopefully get a job. Each time he went before they told him there would be a possibility of a job being offered by the end of the day, but nothing was ever available. Hopefully tomorrow is his lucky day! Let me tell you it is very nerve racking to not know what is going on all day long. Luckily, I work a full time job so my "worrying" time is consumed with work. But it is in the back of my mind. I wish you and your daughter the best of luck!!! : )

Thanks, Britt. I am sure she will be fine. She got home from work and school tonight and is much calmer than yesterday. She knows what she wants and how to get it - by waiting if that's what it takes. I hope she gets a job offer by Friday but this is the military she is working with. ;-)

Hi there Mom2kandq....
Hubby went down to San Diego bright and early this morning. They arrived just after 7 am and at 11:45am his recruiter was told the only jobs they were offering today were Nukes and Reservists. Unfortunately, he has aged out of that being an option for him. So he and his recruiter are planning on going back the end of the month or early next month. Have you heard anything from your daughter yet? Good Luck!

Kaitlin did very well on her ASVAB yesterday. Didn't quite qualify for Nuke (which is okay, she didn't want it) but did qualify for lots and lots of other jobs. She is in medical this morning and then meets with the career counselor. Since she did better than she thought she would, I have no idea what she will sign for - or what she will be offered.
From what I understand, each region has different jobs to fill each month. I know that from the middle to end of August, only had Reservist positions to fill. Kaitlin waited because she wants to go Active duty.
Right now I am waiting for a call from her recruiter so my husband and I can drive up to her swearing in. I can't believe how proud of her I am! She has done some amazing things in the past but this tops them all by far.
