Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

No, he will not come home before A School. Is your SR going to be a Corpsman (HM) or Master at Arms (MA)?

Sorry to say he will NOT be coming home before going to A school. He WILL be leaving Saturday morning after PIR, at least 98% of the new Sailors do.
I have to disagree with Cinder. I don't find it the least bit "funny" when recruiters lie to potential or new recruit's. My son was told to sign up for the Reserves because he could get into bootcamp faster, and then he could "switch" to active duty after bootcamp. This is an out and out LIE!!! Now he is committed to a 6 year contract with the Navy, and will never be able to switch to active duty.
I understand the reason behind the lies...to get their numbers up, but they are still LIEING!! Isn't that an ethical issue that is against Navy rules? Potential recruits are offering to serve their country. Don't you think they deserve to be told the truth???

There are lots of groups for HM. Here are some you can check out and join the one/s that meet your needs: HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio, Sailors in A School for Corpsmen, Corpsman Moms, Corpsmen Moms and Dads, and Hostipal Corpsman <girlfriends-wives-moms>.

It is possible that the recruiter got to go home between Boot Camp and A School. That only happens now if the Sailor has PIR at Christmas time goes home for the Christmas stand down for A Schools, but apparently years ago, it happened at other times as well. There are some recruiters who do not keep up with how things have changed at the RTC since they were there and there is no good excuse for that since they have access to http://bootcamp.navy.mil/ as well as other sites and pamphlets.

The good news is if he is in A school for the Christmas holidays, he gets to take leave and come home. If that isn't in the schedule, he will get leave after A school or after C school if he attends one.
Sloppy recruiting to not know current policies, but they're out there. Some of the other branches get to go home after basic, but not the Navy. If there's more than one branch of service in the same recruiting office, only believe the sailor. And then take it with a grain of salty salt.

Wow I was just laughing at the silly lies like you get to come home after BC not all lies but like Anti M says take everything with a grain of salt. I told my son don't believe what your recruiter says and he would verify it through other sources. Sorry about what happened to your son I get why you are angry.

Cinder, I'm not angry with what you said. I just disagreed with what you said and didn't find it "funny". Like lemonelephant mentioned, there is no good reason for the recruiters not to be up to date with the information they give new recruits. To me, that is a part of their job.
I also feel that the recruiters "get away" with whatever it is they want to get away with. Lying in my book is not only unethical, it's just wrong. I feel that they should face some sort of consequences from their command staff. I'm sure what happened to my son has happened to others.

I wish that were true.. One day is not enough for me. haha But they told Charles he would get that entire weekend. It made me mad to find that to be a lie.
