Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son leaves for bootcamp July 16th and signed up for AM (aviation mechanics)/Hydrolics

My son Matthew is currently in BC and will PIR July 3. He wanted to do AM,but he was told all those positions were full, so he will head to Meridian MS for "A" school to become a Storekeep (SK). (Or at least that was the plan when he enlisted)

As I've written in other forums, my daughter is going to the Persian Gulf after her A school. How do they get there? By air or by sea? Is it possible that you can be in the navy and never have any time on a ship?

Thats a good question........ I think the answer is yes. It depends on your rate. I dont think Seals are ever deployed on ships, I wouldnt think seebees or corpsmen do ship duty. Probably many rates dont

It depends on what she may be doing. My son just spent 8 months in Iraq and they flew on charter flights from the naval station airport. He was on shore duty for his first 3 years and did some work at the police precinct on base. He got on some small boats then. Now he is with the Riverines and they are on boats that patrol the inland waterways.

Garrett is Aviation Ordinace. He for the most part loves his job, although when his current deployment is over he will be attending SEAL training. My brother was also Navy many years ago, he went to school in San Diego for cooking and was selected out of his class to become chef to the admiral of the 7th fleet. He eventually help to run the Visiting Flag Quarters in DC and went to college to get his accounting degree and is now the Deputy Bank Commisionor for NH. I am crossing my fingers that Garrett does with his brains and brawn what his uncle did, take all the opportunity that is being given and make good use of it. Garrett will be 38 if he puts his 20 years in, still a pup, imagine!!!

My son was originally supposed to train to run the electronics on a sub..but decided he didn't want to sit behind a computer all the time switched to Hull Tech (welder) his first love..he wants to start his college in the Navy and eventually become a Pharmacist.
