While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I just got the form letter from Philip and he said there are about 85 guys in his Division. I have only heard from 2 other people...where are the rest of the folks from Division 909?
I'm also a little confused. Philip arrived in GL on Nov. 18th but his graduation date is not until Jan. 22nd. I've seen others post that their loved one arrived on Jan 18th and is graduating on Jan 15th. He will have been in GL for 8 full weeks on Jan 13th so I'm wondering why he's not graduating for a whole week later. -

Grasshopper, Jody arrived on 19th and he is in 06, 909 so they are both going to be gone for a full 9 weeks looks like. Not sure why???

Hi! Apparently there were some initial computer issues as I found this site Friday night but was just granted admission to the site. Anyway, my son Ken is on Ship 6, Div 909. One letter and two brief calls requesting info he required for his security clearance. No lengthy regualr call yet. He graduates January 22 as well and I was also wondering about the additional week (?). He said the food was good and they had quite the Thanksgiving feast. He also stated that his Division 909 is performing for PIR. We are looking forward but have not made reservations as yet. We live in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area. Ken goes directly to Pensacola for CT (cryptology) for A school and said he met a few other guys going down there as well.

Hi Linda: Nice to meet another mom from Ship 6, Div 909. I got two letters but no phone calls. My son Keith thought they might be able to call on Thanksgiving but he was wrong. His recruiter said maybe week 3 or 4. This is week 3 - keeping my fingers crossed and cell phone nearby. My son also said he was picked for drill division and that it was very tough - trying to get 80 plus sailors to synchronize but he said by graduation, they will be perfect. I have no doubt! We are New Yorkers also, but downstate from you. We live in the Hudson Valley - Poughkeepsie area. After PIR, he will go to Pensacola for air traffic control in A school.

Hi our son is in Ship 6, Div 909. We just got his grad date it's Jan. 22nd. Any ideas on where to stay?? We're looking at flights now. It was very hard on us when he left for boot camp especially his little brother. Our son's name is Cory. He's going to nuke school when boot camp is over with. Hope to hear from you.

We are staying at Laquinta Inns because we are bringing his dog with us. They were very nice on the phone and fairly reasonable. My son left a teenage sister behind and she has really taken it harder than I expected..they have always been close but since he had moved back home in May, they had gotten to be best friends. My son is going to CT to sub basic after bootcamp. Your son will be coming to SC then?

I don't know how I missed this discussion - I've been on everyday and wondering if anyone else was Ship 06 - Div. 909. I find this site is a lifeline - I can read about others (I'm not the only one with empty ache in my heart!) and learn alot about what is going to happen and has happened in my son's life. My son is going to Pensacola FL after boot camp - aviation tech. His twin sister misses him very much. I also have an older married son and another older daughter, but he and his sister are my babies. One more little birdie home - for now! I don't know where I'm going to book - I heard Ramada is nice - I will decide tonite or tomm. I hope to meet all of you at graduation on 1/22/09.

So I wonder if we should start a Group for Ship 6, Div 909...maybe it would be easier for others to find. My cousin had a son that was on this ship last year and she said the Mom's came up with a name for their group...The Cheetah's. She also said they each wore I think a scarf that was the same color so they would recognize each other at PIR. Since our Boys are going to be living together for the next 6 weeks or so, it would be great for us to get to know each other before PIR...Any thoughts from others?

Hi Cindy,
I have two older sons...19 and 23 that had moved back home this past year. They both miss Philip but my oldest had become really close to Philip and has had the hardest time.
Philip will be going to MA (Master at Arms) School next so he will be headed to San Antonio. -

Hi ladies! So glad our Ship/Div has a group! Ken called very briefly yesterday - apparently there was a problem with his account number for his direct deposit. He sounded good but I think the biggest difficulty he is experiencing is lack of any free time. He is 26, was previously in grad school and living on his own for the past 2 years but stopped in often to visit and called us regularly. I actually miss his dirty laundry and packing up groceries for him for his apartment. We have received one letter as has he from us BUT I've sent 7-8 as well as friends/family. The mail is very slow. Maureen - your son must be doing very well with his drill division job as Ken said their marching was complimented on by two petty officers which made their RDC happy which is good. He also said the 909 was an elite division with recruits that were either extremely athletic or had really good ASVAB scores/education and since they were in that division, they perform for graduation but he also added they were probably picked because they were the least likely to "screw-up". I'm hoping for a letter today. I still don't know why their BC is longer than the anticipated 8 weeks - more like 65 days from Day 1 to PIR day. He also said that talking was not allowed but he has made friends with the guys around his "rack". Stay in touch - I love this site! Linda
