Hi Ellen
I hear you, my son is #4 out of 5 children and one of my biggest feats is learning to let go:) We always want whats best for our children it doesn't matter if they're married, he'll always be your child first. I cry everyday writing my letters to him, realizing he is truly on his own now and will never be within a distance to drive home for Sunday dinner, tears of pride, knowing he made this decision after researching all other options for his future. I know it will get easier when I can speak with him, but I know what a selfless decision all of our loved ones have made when they took the oath to serve our country.
I work in a busy ER and one of my Doc's can't do plane rides either. He's an easy going guy until you get him in a plane. He always has his Doc prescribe Ativan for anxiety/claustrophobia. Works well every time. It would be easier than driving for 20 hours certainly. My son is Ethan. He'll be at Goose Creek after PIR. I know what you mean. He and his sister Britt are in boot at the same time. They left a little brother of 5yrs at home and will miss out on a lot. I didn't initially approve of their Naval ambitions but they are both good people that want to make a difference and are intelligent enough to think about their futures. tough to argue with that. We will adapt and use the technology we are so grateful for like Skype and webcams to make things less painful. It's still nice to see them grow into the great young man and woman that they are and will be. Every Mom wants that. I know you do too. I wish you well
Hi Mikesmom - I'm Tabatha, Troy's mom. Troy is on ship 03/div 146 as well. He's headed to Pensacola for A-school also. Troy luckily didn't leave a wife or kids back home. I counting down to PIR! I'm sure your are too. Hang in there.... Have you gotten any letters other than the form letter from him?
Hi Troy's Mom:)

Well at least we know there are 4 of our children in the same division/ship. Looking forward to 4/9 as everyone is. No mail today, hopefully tomorrow. TJs mom
Hi there! My son is on ship 3 div 146 and is graduating April 9. He is my baby and this is really hard! I know it's great for him & will be the best in the long run, but gosh, I miss him! He has a 5 year old son he is missing out on. I think that's what bothers me most.
Hi, it's never easy to let go.Try and stay positive as they need that in their letters. I never realized how different this would be from when I sent him off to college. No communication is what makes it so difficult for all of us. Writing everyday has helped me. It truly is a life changing choice they made, your son is positive role model for your grandson. I'll have a big box of tissues to share on 4-9:) Tears of pride and happiness for their success. TJs mom
Hi, My son Kenny is in ship 03, Div. 145. From what I understand, our sons will be in the same classroom but different bldgs. They will be working and playing. lol together. Kenny is our yourngest and he has two nieces and two nephews, on of which is at the Citadel in his Sophomore year. When Kenny left for college, I cried like most mothers do, but he was only 90 miles away and I was able to talk to him on a daily basis, or send and receive emails from him. I really do think that the not hearing anything is the hardest part. DenBarb, hope I can share those tissues too.lol We haven't received a letter yet or a phone other than the four liner on his form letter and the I'm here can't talk call, but I keep reading where other moms in our ship have, so I am crossing my fingers for me and you guys that we will hear from our precious children this week......
Linda,

I'll be sure to share my tissues with all of you:) Nothing better than tears of joy and pride all in one! I'm trying to find out if all they do on Sunday is write??? I can't wait to hear something soon, I did send one of the questionairres to him in hopes I'll get some answers to questions we all want to know. I'll be sure to share it all here with everyone. TJs mom
Hi my son Rob is with Kenny !
Ship 3 Div 145 !
Anxiously waiting for April 9
I'm so glad to have this site! My friends & coworkers just don't understand! They sympathize and tell me how proud they are but it's not like someone who is going through the same thing! I just sent him a phone card in the mail. No one told us he needed one before hand. Didn't know til I got his form letter.
I can't even imagine what April 9 will be like! I may burst with love & pride & happiness! You're right...the no communication is real tough. I'm still catching myself almost picking up my phone to send him a text or call him!
I have called his phone to listen to his message so I could hear his voice. One of my students who was a Corpsman in the Navy has assured me that the first 2 weeks are tough, after that they should have great experience. I know he can't wait for April 9th too, because then I'll stop asking him questions everytime I see him about my son and boot camp:) Need to send the phone card tomorrow....TJs mom
Hi! Glad to know I'm not over-reacting! I watched a you-tube video of a graduation & bawled like a baby! And Cody wasn't even there! I can't wait til Graduation either! It is going to be awesome! Can't wait to see him. Have you gotten any letters yet? His girlfriend nor I have yet. He said he was writing this past Sunday.
