Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Son leaving in 9 months
My son is signed up and ready tog but his ship date is not until March 15th. I am already feeling anxious about him leaving. And I am trying to get used tothe idea that he will not be living near me for at least the next 5 years, maybe longer. That is the hard part. I know it is for the best. And I know he wants this more than anything so I am so happy for him and so proud of him.
I hope to make friends on here who understand what I am feeling. Unless you have been there and done that it is hard for anyone to understand. So if anyone is from around Martin county or just anyone at all Iwould love to communicate.

Sorry it took so long to reply back to this It's been rather chaotic around here Dan went to MEPS and has a ship date of 2/19 His MOD Is a CTR (boy am I learning all these acryomns quickly!) He'll go to Pensacola after BC
He's working on studying and running He has been living on his own for the past year - in one of our rental units - so there are quite a few things to resolve there He's taking a summer course starting July 12th and then one last semester in college before graduation in December
I am surprised at how much time he wants to spend with me these days Before he was signed up it was hit and miss - maybe once a week this past weekend he spent most of the time with us and he'll come out to our boat this weekend Not sure if that will make things harder or easier when he has to leave, but Im treasuring every single second of Dan time I can get

My daughter has signed up and will go to Boot Camp march 2011. After Boot Camp she will attend the school for Operations Specialist.

Hello, when in March does your daughter leave. My son is March 21 and he will also go on for Operations Specialists. Welcome, I guess we will be spending time together. There is also a group for DEP leaving in March.

My daughter is leaving March 22nd. However, until then she has to call her recruitor every Monday. She also has to workout with recruits and has her first PT test in 2 weeks. I am glad she was a gymnast and ran track.

Same routine here talks with recruiter weekly, studying his dep book, working out. My son swims so while the weather is warm , I should say HOT, he is taking advantage.

Daughter is not a swimmer. Friend has pool so she will learn to be more comfortable in the deep end. This will be her biggest obstacle she will have to face.

Are you near a Navy base, I know my son is also allowed to go up and swim at our local base's pool. They also have someone there that works with the Deppers. She may want to ask her recruiter. It will be great having someone to go through this with.

I will pass that info to her. We could go to a Navy base but that would be at least a 3hr drive.

I am from Okeechobee!! My son has been in the dep since Feb. 2010. He leaves for bc Swpt. 19th. I too am a single mom. There is no feeling like what you will be going through. There are ups & downs. He wants to travel and see the world. I have encouraged this as we both know there is not much for young adults in this area unless they are college bound. I gave him back to the Lord so I know he will be in great hands. It will tear me apart when I tell him good bye on the 19th but I will not make a scene..(I promised him). On the drive home will be another story. He is a great youg man and I know will do well. A very good friend of his was to go in with him but was called up early. In fact he graduates Friday, 6/25/10. I don't write alot but just wanted you to know there are others here just like you. In fact I even started my graduation fund about 3 mths ago as I know I probably wouldn't have it all at once. Enjoy your time with your son..and give him every positive thought you can!!

Hi, this is my first post here. I was told about the site a year ago but have been living in denial that my daughter was really leaving me. Well, she shipped out last week on the 14th. The tears are finally starting to dry out, then the box shows up...dry out.... then the first letter telling me when she graduates. Now that I have a date for when I will see her again, it is all so much easier. She also says that she is doing fine...but I know my kid and she would say that no matter what just so that I wouldn't worry! In her own words the day before she left... " well, it's finally here. At first it seemed to take forever, then the time just slipped by way too fast. I love my family and thank you all for all of the support and encouragement. I am going to do what I want and I will see you all soon" I guess that says it all. You will do just fine, especially since you started on this journey in this site so much sooner than I.

Susan, my son is a nuke officer on a sub. The Nuke Power School and Nuke Prototype are similar for both enlisted and officers. It appears that your son is probably strong in mathematics. If he has been out of school for a while, the hardest part may be the sheer volume of information he must absolve at the school. The material is all classified, so the studying and class lectures are all done inside secured buildings. If your son is used to multi-tasking (playing computer games with one hand while holding a Calculus book with the other) - he should get learn to do things one at a time.
