OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Newly married sailors not allowed to live off ship while at Great Lakes?
Anyone know about a new rule forbidding newly married sailors in A school at Great Lakes to live off ship with their wives? My son filled out all the paperwork and followed all the rules in order to get married during the holidays. He is now being told that none of the requests for permission to live off ship will be approved because of someone using off ship housing as a party house for underage sailors. Any suggestions?

OK questions for you all. I have no idea about anyh of this....Me and my husband were married before bootcamp..like 4 months before..im on his paperwork i have my ID everything..now his A school is in GL for 3 months...do they approve live ashore chits for a 3 month school? Im not expecting the navy to pay for my move, i found an extended stay hotel i can stay at and I will pay for...but i just wanna know if they will approve this for only a 3 month school. Also..when does he have to ask for this paper? While in boot? Or when he first gets to A school?

He asks his school. However, since his school is short, they probably won't approve it. However, you'd have non-duty weekends and evenings (not nights) together.

no completely true. My husband was an MM with a very short school (less than 3 months) and they approved him living with me since we were married and had reliable source to get to school. It took a little while, but it WAS approved.

his school has to be longer than 20 weeks for them to move you there. i believe it's 89 days for live ashore to be approved. trust me, it takes about a month or longer to even get it approved AFTER you do the paperwork. it may seem worth it but it's more of a hassle if it's only for 3 months. unless of course he has ATT ect. :) hope that helps!

The policy is: TSC chain of command reviews all live ashore requests. We do approve them for the shorter schools. The Navy will not fund your travel but we will allow the sailor to live ashore with his/her spouse. The Navy does pay for travel for the spouse if the sailor is going to ET or FC A school because they are longer schools and those sailors may be at Great Lakes for a year. I hope that helps.

Navygal88. I think it would be a good idea for you to post your question on the TSC Facebook page. It was created by Skipper Lintner and he is always answering Sailors and their families questions. Others have asked questions like this.
As far as Phase 3 Liberty; I have heard it is just a rumor and will not happen.

The CO does answer questions sometimes, but generally it is the PAO of TSC or a staff member. If students wish to address things to the CO, they are to use their proper channels, which they have been taught. :~}

This questions is best brought up to your COC in your barracks. Posting it on TSC FB page will get you a general answer "we will review all packages"
CO posted "The policy is: TSC chain of command reviews all live ashore requests. We do approve them for the shorter schools." He did not post that all get approved.
As you stated, your paper work just went up one week ago. The paper work needs to go though the whole COC, and than you will get an answer back.
Recommend when you are addressing senior people to be careful with your wording. This may be an open forum, but you posted your question to the CO of TSC. He is the Commanding Officer of TSC Great Lakes.

Navy Gal, in phase 2 you get overnight weekend liberty. So assuming you don't have duty you have liberty from the time school gets out on friday until sunday at 8:45.

countrygirl.2893, My son was married in 2010 at Christmas time. He followed all of the rules regarding getting married while in the Navy. This is important. His live ashore chit was not approved by his LPO the first time he sent it through. Several young sailors had gotten themselves into trouble while visiting a live ashore sailor. He was encouraged by his chain of command to resubmit it and it was approved. All of this happened shortly after Skipper Lintner assumed command. Thank you Skipper. His A school was in Great Lakes.
