Moms are you ready to start Christmas shopping????

Our adoption for October is the USS Ingraham.  There are 201 sailors serving aboard this frigate -

191 males and 10 females (all officers).  As we all know it is very difficult to be away from your family during the holidays so after speaking with our contact we have decided to brighten up these sailors holidays by helping them celebrate Christmas.

We can send Christmas decorations such as small trees, battery powered lights and wall decorations.

I would like to see each of them receive a small stocking (6")  filled with candy or small items and a candy cane for Christmas morning in addition to our other packages.  What do you ladies think?

They requested very few things but could use sunscreen and lip balm since the weather is hot where they are deployed.  Microwavable meals would be a big hit with the crew also.  Most of them are into games, movies and sports and could use some new items to pass around.

The Captain is onboard with anything that will boost the morale on her ship and they are grateful for the support from home and will appreciate anything we do for them.  They enjoy seeing the smiles on the faces of the sailors when they receive mail and care packages from home.

Since this is a small group could we get enough of the small Priority boxes filled so that every sailor onboard would have a box to open for Christmas plus a pillowcase and a Christmas card?

Okay moms what fabulous ideas do you have to help the USS Ingraham celebrate Christmas this year?

We have several moms sending blank Christmas cards for the sailors to send to their families and several that will be sending Christmas decorations.

The shipping dates will be October 21 - 26 and the address is posted in MAS We Ship Love and mark the boxes "Christmas" or we could write "Don't Open Until Christmas".

And, #3:

Hello and compliments of the season,

I am one of the many sailors tht benefited from the 'Molly Adopt a Sailor Program'.  Molly also happens to be my wife's name; she's a beautiful and wonderful woman.  I want to say a big thank you to all those Moms out there who contributed in one way or the other to ensure that we all received something, and for thinking about us.  Thank you for all your support and it is indeed an honor to serve you and our great country.

I miss my family and friends and would love to be back home with my wife, because I know sometimes she cries herself to sleep.  But we do have a duty given to us, and it is people like you that make it less stressful for us.

Once again, I say thank you very much and have a Merry Christmas.

Yours truly,

Omokefe U.

of course you know this is the Ingraham sweeties !!!!   More to come BRB

above is our darling CO of the Ingraham (female)   YEP we got us a woman CO (yipeee show them how a woman runs a ship baby) GIRL POWER !!!

Thanks ladies as you know I didn't send my e-mail along so I would not have been able to see all these wonderful inspiring notes/pictures without all of you.  This has been so much fun and overwhelming.  Thanks again.  I look forward to being apart of doing this more often.  I find myself buying little things and putting them away for the next big package send off.  Thanks again!  Oh and my son just got back from a long cruise and was able to be home for the holidays.  I showed him some of the pictures and he wanted me to say thanks!  Jeff (my son) says all of you have no idea how much that means THANKS from Jeff as well.

One of the notes that I received from the Ingraham.

Hello,
I just wanted to come by and say thank you for the gifts and treats.
It made this Christmas still a very merry Christmas. I hope yall all had
a very merry Christmas and may this new yr be a fun one!

This is from our contact on the Ingraham.

I just want you to know that you have made the ship really excited and that
they appreciate everything that you ladies do for us. The sailors really
appreciated the cards and have took the time to write back the kids of
Sturgis Middle School we received 40 letters from a girl named Angela that
touched the heart of a lot of us onboard. Again we are deeply grateful.  To all the
moms out there the USS INGRAHAM sends our love and prayers to all of you
and the time you spent taking care of us. Take care and god bless you
all.

Daniel

I want to thank everyone who helped make this adoption a success.  I know

we were worried when the first boxes arrived and some of the items were

damaged or missing but in the end they received their boxes and we were able

to put a smile on the faces of the men and women aboard the USS Ingraham.

Hugs to all,

Cathy

*sigh* i just needed a pick me up right now and what appears in my inbox- this beautiful thank you that just made me want to cry.

Nancy,
First off I would like to thank you and your family for your sacrifice.
I am a father of four and a husband of nine years. I understand how hard
this life style is on the entire family.
We are out off of the coast of Central America running drug operations,
and thus keeping us from our families and loved ones this holiday
season.
The feeling that I got when I saw all of the pillow cases made was
indescribable. I truly appreciate all of the time and care that you have
taken for us, strangers that you have never met. We are truly blessed to
have such support.
We were lucky enough to have many pillow cases to choose from. This
simple item though means so much. With all of the different styles and
colors of cases it gives us a chance to remember why we are here or just
remind us of home. For which ever reason we chose our case I can tell
you that it means so much to us, and does truly give us a great place to
rest our head.

Nancy, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support,
consideration, and most of all my reminder of home (MY pillow case).

HT1(S/W) Jason

Oh Nancy, crying right along with you. Pat
