OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

What airport are you flying into?
I know there have been discussions on this but my husband and I are still unsure which airport would be the easiest one to fly into, not necessarily the closest. And anyone that has been and just used taxi's was the cost high? We are trying to decide if we should just rent a car or not. Any help would be appreciate on helping us make our plans would be greatly appreciated:) We are 10 days away from her going to bootcamp, and all of a sudden it is hitting me so hard that I have gone in to planning mode on when we get to see her again. Thanks moms!!

Is Chicago pretty accessible on foot? I'm from LA where it's impossible to get anywhere without a car so not really sure what Chicago is like...

Tricaaa, we took the Metro train from Great Lakes in to Union Station in Chicago. Once we walked out of the station we could see the signs for the bus stop across the street on one of the other corners. The bus will take you to the most popular stops of Chicago. You can get off when ever you want and back on anytime during the day. When you get on the bus they will give you a map of the tour route including bus stops that you can get on and off anytime you want. Buses come by the bus stops frequently so you can get on and off as much as you want. I recommend you sit on the top of the bus to get the best views. However, the bottom half of the bus is air conditioned but you can't see as well. Some of the tour guides are really good and some aren't so good but it is fun and it gets you from point A to point Z depending how far you want to go. I hope this is what you wanted. margaritaqueen, old Sarge is a retired military man who with his wife has started a service to all Navy personnel and families. The meet and greet with Sarge on Thursday before graduation he starts with a buffet for everyone. He shows a film of what the sailors have been through and he will tell you what to expect at graduation. We got so much information from him. He is terrific. He also has a taxi service that will be there for you and it is cheaper than any other taxi's. He took us to and from graduation and it really did take some stress off of us. He even took our other daughter to the airport on Sunday. We left Monday and he had us call him so he could tell us which freeway to take because of traffic. He is truly the best. Thx so much so i can just call him? I dont fly much so really nervous about Chicago. She is staying in Great Lakes for a school as of when she left she went undesignated. So im trying to plan for the weekend whenever that my be its only been since last wed that she left so not any info yet.

Taylordays, I hope all things are working out for you. I have been thinking of you and all the Navy Boot Camp Moms. I am praying everyone is doing fine. Our daughter graduated A school in Great Lakes yesterday and is at the airport now waiting for her flight to come home. It made me think of how far we have come. JudyD, that is so sweet of you. She swore in on Tuesday and away she went. I did get the I made it call late that night, and she was just so excited,she had never flown it was the first in her new adventure:) I have had my moments, but around 10 at night I feel more at peace since I know her day is over and we are one more day closer to seeing her again:) I am so happy for your daughter, I know you must be sooooooo proud!!!! I do have a question since mine is staying for A school also, How long was your daughter there and does she gets to come home for a visit (YAY) when she graduates?? Did they have a ceremony for that graduation too?? Thanks for sharing your experiences. Have a great time with your daughter I am so excited for you that you get to see her.

Taylordays, first of all thanks for your kind words. You won't believe what our daughter went through just to come home. First all Sailors that were flying out yesterday were taken to the airport about 12:30 p.m. She watched as her friends left for their new destinations-some went to Virginia, San Diego, Virginia and Japan. Her plane was suppose to arrive in San Jose, Ca. at 9:35 at night. It was delayed and would now be landing at 11:00 p.m. then it was delayed again and didn't land in San Jose until 1:10 a.m. poor thing. We finally got home at 3:30 a.m. Today we had a family BBQ for her and tonight we are all exhausted. Now for your questions. . . our daughter was at A school for 2 months but it depends on what your daughter's job will be to how long she will be in school. Our daughter is stationed in San Diego and is home until she reports on the 23rd of this month. We are sooooo thrilled to have so much time with her. After your daughter's A School is over they will have a graduation for her but it is small and only other Sailors watch if they have friends who are graduating. Depending on where your daughter will be stationed will decide how long she can be at home. Some sailors get 2-3 weeks, 1 week or only a few days. Some are sent right to their new ships or they can continue with their schooling to what is called C School. Everything depends on the individual's orders.
Enjoy this new experience both you and your daughter are going through. Don't forget that I am here for you and your questions.
