~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

sumersmom:  Most likely, she will leave on Sat.  But if you can stay until Sunday, just in case she doesn't leave until Sunday, you just may get extra time with her---she won't know her travel plans until right before PIR.  Most of those flying out do so the day after PIR (they are bussed there to wait for flights in the middle of the night....flights can start as early as 6 a.m. Sat.and go for the entire day).  You can meet her at the airport and wait with her.  Take ID to get an airlines gate pass so you can wait until departure!

You can mail her stamps.  That's fine.  She will get a Supply Debit Card to use at the NEX so she can get some of the things she needs (including stamps), but of course, anything you can send her saves her money.  She may not have received her supply card when she called you.  I believe it has about $100 on it?  Not positive but think so.  If you decide to send a cash for any reason, please send just a small amount.  Kind of scary mailing cash through the mail and they don't like the SRs having lots of cash up there.   You can mail her a phone card (get one with at least 250 minutes since the connection from the pay phones eats up alot of their minutes)....this saves her money on her supply card.  She can buy one in the NEX but if you send one, again she can use that money for other things.  You can get them at many of the drug stores, Walmart, Target....

Good Morning All !

Tracey....

"P-hold" - If you're on P-hold it is because you will be waiting for more people to arrive so you have a full division. "P-day" and "P-Hold" do not count as being in boot camp". These days do not count towards your 8 weeks of training. These are just "dead d

ays". Once you have a full division you will start your P-days.

Meant to say:  High 60's/low 70's for the price at Navy Lodge.

Comment by diannep on August 12, 2014 at 9:23pm

Mebigds:   Navy Lodge is about a mile from RTC.  Price is right!  You may want to contact Navy Lodge Great Lakes.  Usually their prices are in the high $60's/low $80s.  Depends on the room you get.  Simple "fixins" but was renovated about a year ago and is good.  The staff is very friendly, we hear!

There are also some hotels about 4-5 miles from RTC....a little more expensive, but close to a Walmart, restaurants, Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for you.  Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, and Residence Inn are all good hotels in a good area.  Sarge's shuttle will pick up from these hotels for PIR.  If interested, be sure to contact him at 847 212 0246 or email:

johnspadaro@att.net

He also shuttles from the airports.
