Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I have question My son PIR date is 9/07 .we are 18 hours away in texas .my son wrote me and told me that he has to leave out that afternoon when he graduates .His a school is here in texas. Will me and my family be aloud to drive up to see him at school and since its so much closer ? Will he have liberty the weekend after he graduates ? PLease help me so we can plan to see our son. Thank you for all your help .

GO to PIR! You won't want to miss it! I know it seems ridiculous because he's coming right back to Texas, but if you can afford to go, go. I'm no expert, but from what I'm hearing you won't be able to see him for a while after he gets there.

I would love to see him .I was hoping that I could go up and at least get the afternoon with him .And I was hoping maybe if he had liberty we could see him the day after .but I hear that can't happen either .so we will end up making the trip up there one way or the other I will see my son :)

Hi...I posted this on the Main Wall of the PIR group...but thought I would add it here. I agree...if you can afford to make PIR....go...it is an event to see! Especially if you have never seen something like it before. I would have to say I have seen many military events...but it is always mote special when a loved one is a part of it!
Elana71 - What rating (job) is your son going to A school for...the Liberty Policies are different for each base...and they have INDOC, may be on hold etc...before they even are in Phase I. You willbe able to visit...it just may not be right away...and I am pretty sure not that weekend when they first arrive...but eventually :-) Recruits that fly out for their A schools will be able to go on Liberty directlyafter PIR...which ends at 10:30. Then they will have to report back to RTC anywhere between 7-9 PM (maybe later but not sure). So they have all day. We have heard of a few that end up with watch...but not as common. Occasionally, some of the recruits that fly out may get a leave date of Sunday rather than Saturday, giving them an extra day of Liberty.This is due to scheduling and flight availability. It does not happen every PIR...it did happen to me...we had PIR on Memorial Day weekend and it was on Thursday...my son called on Tuesday two days before PIR( he was in an early Division and did BS21 before Captains Cap....so I knew he was a Sailor) while I was flying over that his plans had changed...up until then I though he was leaving Friday. Luckily, I had booked through until Sunday afternoon! From the advice of my veteran mommas! -

Good afternoon my son rating is a seabea (utilityman) and he wrote me saying that he may only have a couple of hours before he leaves out . And by what your saying if he gets to his school be 3pm he'll have till 10pm of liberty ? and if thats so is it possible to see him during that time ? or just in great lakes after PIR

No...I'm sorry. (also my bad...I wrote "recruit" in the above...should be your new Sailor")
Your Sailor will have Liberty directly after PIR until sometime that night. You get the while day with him. He will leave the next morning for his A school. Saturday morning. They do not fly Sailor out on PIR day.
So for those who have Sailors going to A school anywhere other than Great Lakes it is :
-PIR (ends at 10:30 AM)
-Liberty directly after PIR with your Sailor.
-You return your Sailor to RTC that night by a designated time (they will.need to come back earlier than that though...cannot be late or there are consequences)
-Your Sailor gets bussef to the AP very early in the morning Saturday and flies out sometime that day.
That's the "norm". If they end up leaving Sunday....then.you get another day of Liberty with the same scenario. -

When he gets to his new command in TX that weekend...it is unlikely that you will be able to visit that weekend. He will have to INDOC (indoctrination) ...happens at each new command. He will let you know.when you can come visit him there. It is wonderful that you will be close!

YES ! I feel very blessed he is my oldest but only son and we are very proud of him . I can also say its been pretty ruff on the emotional part also . I cant remember where to get the parking pass can you please remind me one more time because I get to print it tomorrow :)

It is! Hubby has been a reservist for 28 years...we have a Seabee son reservist as well. He is a BU...builder.
