I'm thinking ahead, knowing that my SR (Ship 02, Div 916) could use a new watch. Any advice on whether to wait and get one when we arrive vs. buying at home and bringing along? I want to make sure he has one that he can wear with his uniform.

We're looking forward to watching PIR. My husband, the SR's younger brother and I will be staying at the Marriott Springhill Suites. We're flying out of Seattle on March 6th.

I've been lucky to have had three phone calls from my SR to date (besides the "I arrived safely" call). Each call had to do with additional documents required for security clearance, but what a treat it was to hear his voice! We've also had a couple of letters, so we are reassured that he is doing well.

Thanks for any help!

We ordered our SR a watch from a military surplus company and he loved it.  We gave it to him this past Christmas along with a black wallet and neither came home in the kid in a box either...You will be within 20 minutes or so of the outlet malls in Gurnee if you want to go shopping when you get up there.

Thanks! It's so hard to know what to get him and I wanted to be sure that it's something he can with his uniform. I can't wait to see him in it. Really appreciate the response!

I'm looking for a post that someone posted a few weeks back in one of the groups that had links for ideas of graduation gifts. If anyone knows what I'm referring to, it'd be awesome to have that posted here. Thanks!!

I have a ecodrive and love it -- never have to worry about replacing the battery. I think my SR would love one, too. I just have to find out if there's any criteria for watches when they're in uniform. I never though I'd have to worry in such detail!

I will stay tuned to hear about "watch criteria".  I would like to know as well.  My son is also on ship 02 Div 916.  I am so happy they have passed the 1/2 mark for boot camp.  I can't wait to see him on March 8.  We are leaving from Phoenix on the 7th.
