Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Don't forget holidays, family events or birthdays - Just light a a blue candle, any type of blue candle (Blue for Navy) and allow its warm glow to bring you comforting joy & peaceful solace, and while separated from your Sailor.

Congrats to your son on the big day of April 9th. You can be proud Mama and rest assured, he will be fine. Nobody likes boot, but they all get thru it....missing him will be the hard part (was for me, anyway) He can take his cell with him, all the way thru the airports & lay-overs and text/ call you right up to Great Lakes/Chicago. (my son sent a pic of Chicago "night lights" then we didn't hear a peep til his10 sec. phone call at 2 AM, then a few weeks went by until another phone call. All in the past now, 4 years ago...he has never regretted it and never looked back. Think positive thoughts...keep your candle lit to send him strength, endurance and fortitude.

My son leave tomorrow and I will definitely light a blue candle everyday at 6pm until I hear, he has made it to Bc.

Eleanor: That is so sad, but sometimes that call doesn't arrive just because of the check-in process (phone lines too long, delays etc) I'm sure he's worried that YOU are upset, so send strength, positive thoughts and endurance to him. He's fine, really, really. Our call was 2:00 am west coast time, and was brief: "Hi, it's me, I'm here, love ya, bye" I could here guys yelling: get off the phone-move along-get off the phone! Blessings to your son, and please join other groups here for more support. (Boot Camp Moms, Moms from your state or area? etc) Also: start writing letters and save 'em up to mail day by day-soon you'll get his address via a letter from him (NOT the one on his box of clothes/shoes-you'll get that in a few days-if you are his 'contact' address? OR in a few days, call his recruiter & get his address (it will be a 'ship' name-that's the barracks) Recruiters can discover this info & are SUPPOSE to support families to some degree, during Boot. Think positive and joyful thoughts (I know its difficult, believe me) Blessings to your boy !

I'm missing my son, he left 03/25/13 for booth camp... haven't received any calls that he arrived safe...praying and thinking of him everyday!!!

- Yips..sending blessings & thoughts of strength to your boy...my son said best ever training, but never wants to go thru it again..mama navy will take good care of him and give him all the skills/equipment he needs to complete it. Godspeed to those off to deployment too. :--)
