We are very proud of him and his decision to join the Navy. He is the first in our family to serve so we are new to the military life but we know he will succeed.

Our son left for bootcamp on 10/23/12 and I'm missing him so bad. We received his letter yesterday and he is in Ship 11 Div. 037. When we got his box it was so good just to have his stuff home even if it was his dirty clothes but they still smelled like him. I go into his room daily just to be around his things, this is a wonderful way to think about him and look forward to seeing him at graduation.

Missing my son that departed on 102212 for Boot Camp.  I love and miss him dearly. I miss his smell, picking up after him and most of all hearing, "I love you, Mom."

Oh yea! it's gets better all right.  boot camp is a distant memory for my son (4 years now-Aircrew Squadron) Get ready with letters, cartoon clippings, local news, uplifting, encouraging comments and family love (nothing political, controversial or embarrassing).  You'll get his address soon in a letter, and MAYBE a note in a box of civilian clothes, his shoes, etc. I kept that awhile, couldn't bear to wash them right away-- silly mom :)  Boot camp is tough, exciting, challenging, tiresome, and a HUGE transition from home life...but it's all for the good of the team/crew in the barracks, & the training they learn now kicks in during emergencies on ship, shore or in the air!  Blessings to your son - and keep a blue candle lit to help give him (& you) strength & endurance. He's probably had a good sleep by now-they sometimes keep 'em up for awhile to 'merge' everyone into the SAME TIME ZONE--grumble.  --my son says--

nobody likes boot camp  :)
