Event Description

Hello Northern Nevada Moms and Loved Ones. I'm so excited to organize this event so that we can all get a chance to meet one another and network together. Each of us is at a different stage in our loved one's Navy career. Some already have Sailors in the fleet, while others have new Sailors fresh out of BC and others have their SR going through BC right now, while there are still ones who have futures Sailors who have yet to experience it all. It's a GREAT time to share experiences.

I thought the best way to organize this is as a potluck so that it won't be a burden for one person to handle the food. If you have a FAVE dish...please bring it. I will bring the main dish of Chicken Wings and Pulled Pork for Sandwiches. We will need an APPETIZER, a FRUIT, a SALAD, SIDE DISH and DESSERT. Please give me an idea of what you want to bring so that everyone doesn't bring the same type of dish.

I have chosen Crystal Lake Park as it is located closet to the South end of town for those of you who might be traveling from Carson City or Gardnerville. It is a pleasant park with a nice pavilion and tables and a great playground with grass and even tennis courts!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Our Northern NV Navy Moms picnic was a great success yesterday. We had a bumpy start as the weather didn't cooperate and the location we picked was occupied when we got there. Thankfully one of the Dads was able to help us find an indoor location. There were 4 of us Moms and one Dad who had DEPpers and a Reserves Mom and a Reserves Wife along with her parents. All the DEP kids showed up at one time or another. Ski-Nanny...thank you so much for your help and for the GREAT door prizes and your wealth of knowledge. You really helped make this a success and reached out to those Moms who are going to be missing their boys soon. We are hoping to get together again next month to work on the N4M Holiday Project. It was so wonderful to meet new Navy Moms and make a local connection. For those who were unable to come...don't fret. We'll get another chance to meet up again.

Just looked at the hourly weather forecast and everything still looks like a GO. Looking forward to meeting you wonderful ladies today! My family hated me yesterday when I was making the pulled pork in the slow cooker. The house smelled SO GOOD! Told them they had to wait til today! LOL

Oh and bring a photo of your Sailor if you have one. If you don't, bring a pic of your Future Sailor.

So far 3 Moms have contacted me from the DEP meeting. Plan on bringing a dish to feed 15 ppl.

Oh and one more thing...the weather may get soggy on Sat, so we'll keep everyone informed on if it will affect us. There is a pavillion, but you just never know with Nevada weather. LOL. Keep your fingers crossed!

Just a reminder that the picnic is this Saturday. Looking forward to meeting you all! I got an RSVP from a DEP Mom today and she is bringing Fruit Salad. I know AIRR86 will be there and she invited some of the Blue Star Moms too. PS...don't forget to bring plates and napkins and drinks and eating utensils with you. It is a picnic after all :)

Hoping we will be able to attend.  Are just moms going, or dads too?  I will bring pasta salad and a dessert.  Not sure what, but it will be something with chocolate!  :)
