What is your advice?

"One thing I do recommend, if it's all possible. Be sure to try and attend their graduation. You send the Navy a teenager, and the next time you see them, they have grown and matured, and you will be in utter awe. I wish I could re-meet his company commander and tell him about the most astonishing young man that they helped on his way. He's gone from the obnoxious teenager to a man that is so very proud of his leadership skills and knowledge. The Navy was the best thing for him, and it's amazing to see the transformation over the years." – Jean Cabral

hey our local newspapers both the big Bismarck newspaper and the little towns will send the weekly or sunday paper for free. Sometimes it takes a month to get there, but news from home is cool.
No one was there to greet me on the Parade Deck at Marine Corps Bootcamp Graduation in San Diego. It was meant to be this way and I am grateful for it. But Mrs. Cabral is right, you should try to attend. It is an indescribable moment.

Hi Chris,
I just read your note, and I'm sure their are many in your same situation. I for one being very proud of my son, and every other mother/father/sister/brother, and so forth would move heaven and earth to be supportive to the men and women that serve our country. So give a shout out next time, and I'm sure someone living in the area will be their for you and others. I'm in California, and will be meeting my son's ship when it arrives, and welcome him and his shipmates to our shores.
With peace and blessings :)
.
Wow, my son graduates March 20th, 09. I know he will have changed. He was always more mature for his age, very responsible, dependable, loving and high spirited. I can imagine right now how much he has changed. I wish all the new sailors blessings and happy trails. I can't wait to see my son and see the changed young man. Happy Valentines' Day.
