Elaine, if you need any support while your son is in Iraq - please let me know. My boyfriend is in Iraq and will be until November. We put a lot of faith in God. And now my baby has joined the Navy. I am proud of both of them. So don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or just need to talk! God Bless you and your son - and all of guys and gals who are serving our country!
I thank God for this board. Thanks Jawona. Your response means a lot to me. I will definitely be contacting you. I'm not sure when he'll be deployed. Does the military usually give the soldiers/sailors a little time to spend with their family before be sent overseas?
Yes - my boyfriend was on leave for two weeks before he left, and they will have a transitioning training to go through - not sure where that will be -- but he will have plenty of notice. Add me as a friend and e-mail me and I'll give you my personal e-mail address if you like or if you have a myspace I can give you that too. I have lots of pictures of my boyfriend on there :).
Jawona, I'm not sure how to add you as a friend. Can you walk me through the process? I can't access myspace from work.
HEy you don't need to do it from my space, go to the persons page that invited you and underneath their photo there is a spot to "add as a friend" or when you get a request @ the top of your page @ "Navy for Moms" there "should" be a box with the request you just click accept! When I first came to website my computer wouldn't show certain aspects of the website but after certain adjustments I am able to view alot more but still unable to add photos!
Hi, my name is Sue. I am a navy mom, and I have many other family members that have been in the Navy..It is a family tradition! I am a "plank owner" to the USS Gary FFG 51. This ship was named after my uncle Don..known to the Navy as Commander Donald A Gary USN/deceased. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in WWII when he served on the USS Franklin when is was bombed of the coast of Japan. My youngest son laways wanted to be in the Navy and to advance like his great uncle.
Greetings All!

My name is Carol. I live north of Atlanta, Ga. Wife to one, mother of three. Am a stay at home mom, which means I am always home alone because all of my kids are teenagers and I never see them! lol

My son Luke is in DEP and will report to boot camp on 9/11/08.
Hi Carol, Welcome to the site! I am a DEP mom too. If my boy choses not to go the end of May then he will be a week ahead of Luke. I look forward to speaking with you.
Good Morning!

Thank you so much for the help! This board is awesome. My son is probably going to be deployed to Iraq and it's nice to have other moms to share feelings with....

Elaine
Hi Giovanna!

Welcome. I've been on this site for 3 weeks now and it's saved me lots of tears! It's wonderful to know that other moms feel the same way I do. My son graduted b/c on the 7th and started A school 2 days ago. I got to see him last Friday and Saturday for the first time in 5 months.

Are you going to be able to go to graduation?

Elaine
Brian signed his and went in a couple of weeks later. He lived in VA too, with his dad, and told me about everything over the phone. I got to see him for a couple of days in December, but then he was off to Chicago. Fortunately, my daughter and I live in MO so we drove up to graduation.

I'll say prayers for both you and John tonight to help you both through these next few weeks. God will keep you both, I promise!
My son left the same day. No real phone call or letter either. Div 157 Ship 12. I am trying to get an 800 number on my home phone that I can forward to me cell.
