Derek's orders changed so many times, I am not about to even attempt to answer this one!!
We are in the same boat. Bryan is graduating on the 25 and no orders yet! I think it will happen when it happens! I guess what we do know is that eventually they will be where they are supposed to be!
My son graduated from "A" school July 9 and still doesn't have orders.
It could be based on the outcome of those tests. Generally based on his class ranking or the GPA, they will bring in the orders once their grades are all in and based on his class ranking - the orders will be picked by top student and then down thru the full class until all orders are accounted for.

I know you are on pins and needs waiting to hear - what's next?!!! Good luck, hope he gets the orders that he is hoping for.
My son is graduating the 8th of Aug, I happened to find out his orders by accident. He went to Great Lakes for boot camp I went to the web site and found a telephone number, the number is also on the graduation information that is sent to you. I called and was told that my son was not a grad and go, he was going to have to stay a couple of days longer, but wouldn't tell me why, I assume it is more training. But the gentlement told me where my sons "A" school is going to be.
My daughter is graduating on 8/8/08 also from Great Lakes. She has A school for 9 weeks after the graduation in Great Lakes. No word on orders yet.
My son said the top 5 grades in his class got to pick in order of ranking. The better they do, the more choices they have to pick orders. Since we're from Richmond, VA he chose Norfolk which is 2 hours away.
Sami got her orders right befor the end of A school. Then she got bugged by everybody because she got "sweet orders" and everybody wanted to know how she got them! We still do not know how!!
Yep, our recruiter said that depending on how did in their school, pfas and general military bearing, the "sweeter the orders"...they take the most excempliary student's score, put all the orders on a table, this kid is # 1 he gets 1st choice out of the 50 orders...the next one in line gets to choose his pick and so on....this is why they call it the "bottom of the barrell" because if your child was the last in his class, he's going to be the one scraping barnacles, no matter which profession he wanted to be in...food for thought the next time you speak with the kids!
I think every sailors orders are received at different times. My son didn't get his orders until the day of graduation.I have other friends that say their sailor got theirs before graduation right after their tests. My son went straight into the avaition field. So I'm sure what ever he is qualified to do will determine when he and where he gets his orders.
ok I with the Moms below...
my son got his orders about 1 month before A school graduation...but dates change etc..his duty station didn' t change -this is one of those rollercoaster rides-hang on
My son did outstanding in A school and he did not get not 1 of his picks on his list....
I guess they call it a "wish list"
