In my daughter's letter she mentioned only having two hours after graduation to spend with us, as this is in her first letter home does she really know this soon? Does that mean she is a grad and Go? We booked the room for the entire weekeknd thru Monday and are not changing "just in case". Just looking for other mom's opinions or experience here.

You haven't receive any other info. from her..about grad-n-go she has not mentioned anything else
When is her PIR??
My advice is ask her recruiter!
If this is true...she does seem to be grad -go....and you will be able to go to the airport with her.
best of luck
I haven't gotten any other letters yet and her PIR is 10/24 I may call recruiter tomorrow, good idea. thanks.
Is your daughter going straight to A school there in Great lakes? I think my son is a Grad and Go too...and so i need to know soon...i guess i will find out?
MOst -and I say most...know if they are grad-go...if they are grad-go in GL..the "norm" is that the sailor will get to leave with you for the weekend and call to muester..{check in} but they will only be able to leave the base after moving but you should be able to come and get them by 6pm and then they would not have to return until sunday nite.
Now if they are NOT staying in GL for A school -after PIR they will pack and go to the airport...and families can and do go with them....so it kinda "all depends" on each indiviual situation!
K if your recruit is staying in GL for A school then they get liberty for the weekend. IF they are shipping out somewhere else then they only get a couple hours to spend with you.
Not to change the subject, but my son is a grad and go his PIR is 9/26. He is going to school in GL, by the comments left, he can "sleep" with us as well for the weekend? He doesn;t have to be at school at night?
Carol, when is your daughters PIR? Have you gotten your graduation packet yet. When my graduation packet came home it said he was in a division that was a grad and go. Do you know what she will be doing after BC? Maybe her A school will be in GL.
Her PIR is not until 10/24 soit's a little early for grad packet I think. She is going to be a yeoman but we were told her A school may be in GL or MISSISSIPPI so we're not sure. I asked her in a letter but with the delays I haven't gotten a reply yet. maybe this weekend.
HI, Carol- My son Craig is going to be a Yeoman as well and his PIR is 10/17. They will leave on 10/21 after graduation at least that's the info we've received so far. For school he is going to Meridian Mississippi. That is where the Yeoman "A" school is. Your daughter should have found out where her school was when she went to MEPS and met with the classifier. At least that what happened when I went in and also for Craig. Good Luck and you should be looking for a graduation packet around the end of September if not a little after. Linda D-IA
over night liberty is rare. but not unheard of
most sailors have to report back to base by a certain time, if they have not moved to A school, My son was on the base friday and sat night than moved to A school down the road. but still had to report in each night. but spent all day with us. Tamie
Hey Kelly,

that depends on there RTC's . We had some who where able to stay the whole weekend and some who had to be back by 8pm. And Kelly ask her when she calls again or in a letter she should know where she will be after BC, or ask her recruiter. I knew already that my son goes to Groton, CT. after BC before he even left.
Kris
Hi Kelly,

My son, is graduating 9/26, also. He said he won't be on Liberty, but he'll be with us for the weekend. He is supposed to go to Aviation Specialty school in Pensacola.
