Reading the posts after battle stations, it seems that first phone call comes with the request to have a really good meal after graduation.

One of our fellow moms - just pointed out they have White Castles in Chicago!! Do you think this might be considered a "really good meal" for our new sailors?!!

Seriously, we live in the South and it is a treat to go up north and have a White Castle! But what I'm really looking for is recommendations for eating out that weekend.

I hear Chicago Pizza is a must try...any others?

HOUSE OF CRAVE
About Us Timeline Employment

More than 80 years.
More than 380 restaurants.
More than 500,000,000 burgers sold last year alone.

But when you add it up, the by-the-numbers White Castle math just can't compare to the steam-grilled science of creating that signature Slyder.® Or the consistent history of high quality and great taste that turned fast food into big business and jumpstarted the nation's first hamburger century. (Well, almost a century: meat rationing during World War II forced us to sell hot dogs and eggs.) Or, most of all, the shared secret language of committed Cravers across the country, the words and senses that turn all of you into One of Ours.

Still, math is pretty fundamental. Mostly because, in White Castle mathematics (crunched at our Columbus, Ohio, headquarters), the number one keeps popping up.

First fast-food hamburger chain ever. First industrial-strength spatula. First mass-produced paper hat. First to sell a million hamburgers. First to sell a billion hamburgers. First frozen fast food for sale.

All of which, of course, makes us your number one. Hold your applause for your next burgers.

No way ? IS chicago the polish sausage capitol ? Arggg I am polish I didnt even know that.
Wow Vikki ...... See how helpful this place can be :)
Thanks
Ok I am totally out of the loop and so forgive me I have never had a white castle nor have I ever heard of them until now.. I don't leave my corner of the world much LOL
but you all are making me very hungry
It seem to depend on where you are from if you know White Castle. I only knew about it from a movie, so we had to go and try it. Very famous hamburgers.
Now it also appears where you are from as to weather you will like them. I absolutly hated them, my whole family went and ordered 40 hamburgers between us. Every single one of us took a bite and our eyes opened wide. Different tasting that is for sure. But some people's mouths salivate just by mentioning them. It is a must ....... even if you hate them, at least you have tried them.
Kinda like Okra, or Grits, boiled peanuts, You may not want to BUT you just gotta try 'em
I heard about it when we went out to eat and my son said "this place has all the ambience of a White Castle Resturant."
see...White Castle is a legend!
