OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This is Tysmom and I'm now 6 days away from time for him to leave for bootcamp!   We've both feeling very anxious and I am dreading it with everything in me.   Thanks for the messages from mommas (and wives) who have been where I am.   I appreciate them all!   God bless our boys and girls!

TysMom - keep your chin up and a smile on your face. My daughter is a little older and went to OCS, which is slightly different than boot camp, but still very stressful and physically demanding. We both made it through relatively unscathed and stronger because of it. You will miss him. He will miss home. It will be hard for him, but he will become a Sailor in the US Navy when this is over. It's only 8 weeks. Send him encouraging letters and cards as often as you can. He won't be able to write back very often, but know that every bit of mail from home is cherished. Attend his PIR (graduation) if at all possible. BE proud of him and make sure he KNOWS that you are proud of him. It takes a special kind of person to join the military and a special kind of parent to support them. This is what unconditional love is all about.

Keep checking in here - you'll get all the virtual support you need.
