8/7 DEP date - Anybody else have a recruit leaving for BC that week?

My son heads to BC on 8/7.  I've no doubt he'll be just fine; but, you guessed it.....I'm still holding back the tears!  Anyone else leaving that week?  If so, from where?

My son went to Meps on 8/7 then flew to GL on the 8th. It is real hard Don't hold back those tears if you wanna cry just do it. Our kids are our kids and there is no reason in the world you should feel you have to hold back the tears. We are proud of them and miss them like crazy .Thank God for this sight it helps to hear that there are others out there just like ourselves.Feeling exactly the same.way.Maybe our boys paths will cross .Hang in there Seattle mom. We are all in this together.

Was wondering the return address for the form letter? We are out of town and have someone checking our mail for it.

The return address 1st line is your recruits name, written in their own had writing, followed by the ship and div # they have been assigned. Followed by the address at Great Lakes.Everything on the outside of the envelope is written by the recruit, whom ever is checking your mail, will not miss it.

Thank you!  His handwriting was hardly recognizable!  It was neat and readable.

My son left last week also.  We are from Morris Illinois, not far from Great Lakes, however I might as well be a million miles away.  I couldn't hold back the tears.  Went to see the swearing in.  It was short & sweet.  Then watched him get on the coach bus, which was extremely difficult.  I tried to be strong, but when I got that last hug, kiss & "I love you" for a while....I couldn't hold back.  I just got his first letter with his address & graduation date.  His PIR is October 4th & he is on Ship 02 Div 947.  What about your son?  Are planning on attending the graduation?

Debbie I too got the form letter today. My SR Ship 2 Div 947. But our PIR is Oct 5. I think all the graduations are on Fridays and you said Oct 4 for yours. Maybe a typo. Happy to have you around. Join the PIR Oct 5 group with us.

Yes, it was a typo....PIR is Oct 5.  So our sons are in the same Div.  Are you planning on attending the PIR?  I will definitely be joining the PIR Oct 5 group!

Yes we will definitely be going to PIR. How about you? What A school will your son be going to? Mine will be going to Gulfport MS for SW. He's color blind so he was knocked out of a lot of jobs. And steel has no color, lol.

Sorry it has been so long.  Not on the computer everyday & then I have trouble finding what I'm looking for.....technology!  Anyway, yes, I will be going to PIR.  We live in Illinois, my ex-husband is getting the rooms we need for everyone so not sure where we are staying yet.  I'm thinking the Marriott, but not sure.  My son will be attending A school in Pensicola FL for AVTS(Aviation Technical Support) however he way thinking of trying to qualify for ARS(Aviation Rescue Swimming).  That is a question I have for him when I get that first phone call.....can't wait!  I did get my first written letter yesterday!  I could hardly wait to read it!   Do you know where you are staying yet?

Yes, my husband left on the 9th from California! Maybe theyll be graduating together?? Stay Strong!

My son left on the 9th from PA he is Ship 14 Div 326, PIR date oct. 5

My son left Aug.9, from Pittsburgh, He is ship 14 Div. 326. Im looking for other Moms with sons/loved ones in same category have not any response yet. But God Bless you and your son. I did get the form letter, my son wrote he was fine. I'm sure yours is also, but this is difficult for us Mom's.
