Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

A few unanswered questions
Hi there,
I have been searching and reading a lot over the last two weeks since my son left. But there are a few things I have not been able to find, as I'm still trying to get used to N4Ms.
1. I found info on when to expect mail to start arriving home, but has my son been getting my letters yet? When we first met with our recruiter, we were told that the recruits get mail every day but can only write on Sundays.
2. The day my son left for MEPS and the hotel, we had to go to the recruiter's office first. At that time, he said my son was getting 5 days off after PIR and could come home. Nowhere, not once, have I read a post from someone on here that has mentioned that??
3. My 91 year old grandmother mailed my son a card the day after we received his address. I found out later the card's envelope was blue and even had clouds on it! YIKES I read somewhere (possibly not this site) that if a recruit receives mail in anything other than a white envelope, they will be punished. My grandma overheard me say this (YIKES again!) and now is extremely upset, crying and stressed out because she thinks she is getting her great grandson in trouble! HELP

Japan doesn't have the sex bars and shows it once had. They tightened up the adult entertainment laws in 85, and the AIDS epidemic shut down a lot of the wildest places.
We don't have bases in the Philippines anymore, that was even wilder! Even my grandfather, who visited Manila in World War One, remarked to my grandmother about it being the Most Sinful Place on Earth.

ok so let me get this straight...the night of PIR does he get to come spend the night at our hotel until the next day when he leaves for A school????

No, he must return to the RTC that evening. He will know what time that is and you will want to make sure you drop him off so that he has plenty of time to get back to his Ship on time and also to allow for traffic getting back on the RTC.

If he's only 1 minute late, he's history. He could have been 1 minute early. The Navy don't play games when it comes to being back from liberty on-time while still at Great Lakes.

I wonder what happens if they are late now since many Sailors leave on Saturday. When my Sailor was at the RTC, he was able to have Liberty beginning Saturday morning, but those in his Division who were late arriving back on Friday had an hour taken off of Saturday Liberty for each minute they were late--or at least the RDC told them that and there were a few in his Division who were late, but I don't know if they really did lose an hour for each minute they were late. Some Divisions were told that it (hour off) would fall on everyone in the Division if anyone was late. From other posts, I see that other Divisions were told that if even one Sailor was even a minute late on Friday that Saturday Liberty would be canceled for everyone in the Division. I don't remember what was supposed to happen if they were late on Saturday evening.

They could hold them in GL and make them fly out Sunday or Monday and not give them liberty on Sat and not allow their family on the base.
