Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

A school graduation
We are wanting to attend our sons graduation from A school in Great Lakes but money is tight and we are trying to save however we can.We would like to find out if there are any campgrounds in that area.We are in Kansas City and not familiar with the area. If anyone could provide any advice I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!!

Well I have seen that on here..I mean as far as A school graduation not being a big deal but he seems to think it is. And as far as him coming home on leave,I wish I knew that for sure. He says he gets so many days but our daughter is getting married in October and he wants to save his leave for then...thank you for your reply..I need more answers though I guess..just not sure what to do!!

If your son wants you to attend, then by all means "GO". We attended or daughters graduation from A school, it was fun and laid back.

Alot of them dont know that the graduation is like. They find them self very disappointed. He will get the leave after A-school. It would be a good idea to get him home then. The odds of him coming home in Oct may not be very good. If he is on deployment odds are really good he isn't coming home. Plan for what you know for sure. You aren't going to get a lot of chances to see him. Best to take what you can.

Denise is correct, the new guy at a command is very unlikely to have a leave request approved after only being at his new command for just a couple months. And yes, if his ship is deployed, it is zip zero zilch on leave.
They earn 2.5 days each month, for a total of 30 days paid vacation each year. However, getting to take leave depends on the needs of the command they're at, less on the desires of the sailor. It would be wise to have a back up plan for the wedding, such as Skype. Just in case.

Can't vouch for any of these, but hope it helps. If you want to attend, and he wants you there, by all means go. I noticed at my son's they recognized the parents who were there with a certificate.

One other thing to consider, if there is a hold period between his graduation from A School and his next assignment, the sailors are doing pretty menial work while waiting. If he sticks around GL, he'll be cleaning and standing watch much of the day.
