I think it will warm Colton's heart if he has time to get involved with a package or letter while he is home.

I was unloading my trunk this morning and showing Ashleigh the stuff that I picked up so far and told her I really wish we had done this a couple of days ago and she just teared up when she heard what we were doing. She has been very involved in service project with her youth group at church and now at her college. She is on the council for the campus ministries program and wanted the website for anysailor.com as she may try to implement a letter campaign for our Sailors.

Now mind you...she has written her brother ONCE since February but I know her heart is in the right place...right?!!!
I appreciate you all thinking of the girls over there because Sarah might be going over there some time in the future.
Im excited about girls .......I believe I really know what I could send them, and what they would like :)
Don't forget to see your Avon rep befor you ship your box out. A lot of times they have samples and stuff that wasn't picked up that they will give you for free. And magazines that have styles in it and haircuts. A bride magazine would be neat too, there is always someone planning a wedding.
I found a lot of great stuff at the dollar store today they had birthday themed computer paper 45 sheets per pack so I thought they could make their own cards from that so I also got some envelopes. I got them some frisbees and squirt guns, Tampons and nail polish, Big lots had the kool- aid singles in boxes for 1.50 so I got 5 of those and the list goes on . I also sent a lot of magazines both outdoor life and field and steam and good house keeping and family circle. I will get some car ones and people mag from my daughter and her husband. She also said that I can send all of the Mary Kay stuff she has left ( she used to be a Rep). I sent 2 boxes today and will send another in 2 weeks. I'm having a lot of fun with this.
Great suggestion Jackie! I'm including some paperbacks in my boxes, also some playing cards.
Shell, we travel a fair amount and I always collect every shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. from the hotels and keep them in a box until a service project at school or church starting looking for them.

Do you think these items would be well received?
I would think they would like them. We once sent those dove small soap packets you get from hotels,(I got a whole box of those little things at an auction) and got a letter back from our communities soliders, they joked around that they wrestled for the soap cause everyone has dry skin.

Shell
Any of our sons or daughter could be there someday Linda and I just want them to know we appreciate what they are doing for our country and hopefully give them something to smile about.

What rate is Sarah? I am not sure who it would be worse on, the sailor stationed there or the family here that can not function, sleep or think as they worry about their loved one.
Mary, she is a seaman. Her will be a builder when she is done with school. And you are so right about the possiblitites. So we keep our sailors in our prayers and the families too. My mom gave me some paper backs and I picked up a big pack of chap sticks and some other odds and ends. Will be sending my box off soon.
I had some problems mailing some of the things in my boxes. All shaving cream needs to be a cream no aerosol cans, also nail polish has alcohol in it and that is also a no-no. If you don't list it you should be alright. I did have to fill out a customs form.As far as the address , They made me cross off any sailor for safety reasons so just address it to Billy. Hope this helps you all avoid some of the problems that I had.

I am already collecting things for the next box. My husband surprised me by writing some letters to the guys. When I went scrapbooking I brought a bunch of blank cards and asked everyone there to fill one out for a sailor and most of them did. They said to post the list of items and they would help. They also said that they would write notes for me every month. We really live in a great country.
I guess so there were 2 women working at ours and neither of them were very friendly. I will go to a different one next time. Did you have to fill out the customs paper work and list eveyrting in the box?
