OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Adjustment Disorder
My son is stationed in San Diego. He tried to end his life on 4/2. Of course I flew down to be with him. He is doing some better but having lots of panic attacks. Seeing counselors, doctors, etc. but they are still making him work. I'm really worried. I am looking for support from my fellow Navy Moms. It's been a while since I've been on here, but I get emails on a daily basis and I keep up with everything as much as I can. I'm crying out for words of wisdom, prayers, you name it. His doctors are recommending him to be separated from the Navy and I'm thinking that is whats needed as well. But it's hard to say if they are going to allow that. Any comments etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear this about your son. I hope he is doing bêtter. I am a psych nurse and I would think if the doctors/psychiatrist or recommend that he be given a discharge the navy would follow their advice.

There is a high chance he will be separated if he tried to end his life. BUT,..this is where it gets tricky if he has been in for less than 180 days, than it will be an admin seperation...if he has been in for longer than 180 days (DEP doesn't count for either of these) He will have to do a MEDBOARD process..which can take months and months to get an answer back. also once he is out, depending if they give him any disability will depend if he can get any treatment covered by the VA. The new MEDBOARD process takes so much longer as they give the disability rating when they tell them to be separated. But than again they could say no disability rating, but separate.
The MEDBOARD is where his medical record goes to be reviewed to see if he should stay in the Navy or not. He does NOT go to the board, but he can write a letter to go with the paper work.

Thank you all so much. It's always nice to know there is support from fellow navy moms. I've always found comfort on here. He is currently still having panic attacks, but I know that my Lord and Savior are listening to all the prayers and is staying by him every step.
He has actually been in for 2 1/2 years now so I'm curious to see how this will be handled. I continue to ask for encouraging words and prayers are always greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
