My son left for bootcamp last Monday. His little sister has been so sad since he left. Every time she cries I start to cry. She was so upset when we got his box home.

My son left on Monday as well. We are such a tight knit family. It's like a part of us is missing. I have been finding things to do that makes me feel connected to him. Maybe you could do a craft project together. Make him cards, color pictures, take photos that you would feel he would enjoy. The main thing is to do things that keep's him a very "present" in your lives.

Heather, I left info for you on your My Page.

Thank you for the great ideas. We went to the recruiters office today to pick up his diploma. Looking forward to getting more information. We did hear he is in ship 11. Is your son in Chicago as well? I really appreciate your response my daughter and her friends are inspired. The art supplies are out. Best wishes and prayers for you a d your family

MPKRN526, I agree with Heather about doing things that keep him present. She can start writing letters, as can you, now so that when you receive The Form Letter you will have several ready to mail. Number them on the outside and mail them either all at once or a few a day. Depending on his sister's age, she may be able to come up with some creative ideas for letters. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit. She may also be able to help you plan a few things to do when you see your new Sailor in August on either the 11th or 18th depending on which division he was placed in.

I left info for you on your My Page.
