some say its harder in the weeks preceding bootcamp than when they arrive.

Youre going to be ok, Im so glad you found N4Ms. welcome aboard
Our son left for bootcamp today and we just got a 10 second call to say he was there. We had really hoped for 2 minutes but I guess we're glad we even got that. He said the next call would be in 3-4 weeks. He was able to call on his cell phone. We are now empty nesters, (3 children) and it is going to take time for us to adjust to all of this. He has been the only one at home now for 2 years, which we have really enjoyed. I really like the support and information on this site.
welcome AJs mom. those first :Im Here: phone calls leave your heart in your throat. I just want to welcome you and let you know you have come to a good place. there isnt one mom that doesnt understand how you feel. Keep coming here for support, to laugh cry and vent. You are a part of the Navy family now. Its challenging before they leave and in a different way, challenging after they leave.

feel free to ask questions. take care
This is all so new to me...and becoming REAL :( My son just left Feb. 11 and I'm wondering if I can make it till I see him again. I did receive his phone call but it was so quick. Seemed to only have lasted all of 10 sec. Hearing his voice was a big tease and made me cry myself to sleep (my poor husband) I have thought of joining the gym again-I feel this would be very beneficial but these gloomy days in my area are NO help.
Reading these posts are very helpful and I know I'm not alone :)
Hi my name is Leigh. My daughter left for boot camp on the 22nd of Jan., this has been a hard transition for me. I feel a part of me is missing now that she is gone. I have never been away from her this long. i have missed her last two phone calls, and that makes it even harder. I am always here if u need to talk, maybe we can go through this journey together. look forward to talking.
I know its so tough but time does heal alot of pain and before u even know, u will be there for graduation. mine is 3 weeks left now and everyday feels like years and years but his letters make me feel so much better. i read it every single day like almost 10 times. So wait until u get letter and then do write alot of letters though...I cant believe that writing everyday have helped me so much. Stay strong coz they get more strong by seeing u strong but if u start feeling weak, u will see their weaker side. So you are their motivation now so stay busy and strong
Joining the gym will be the best idea for u to do something for urself. I know its alot of stress and emotions but my boyfriend always used to say suck it up girl and thats what i did. I sucked it up and in less than 3 weeks, i will be there in his arms. Write letters, make sure ur phone is always around u, and after u get letters it will be alot easier. Make sure u stay busy coz time and work are the only thing that wil heal ur sadness and pain..Stay strong..They miss you more than we do..At least we have everyone but they dont. they are alone but still staying strong for us so we gotta be strong too..:)
Rickysgirl23 advice is so right....These first days will be horrible, but you'll get through them. Your boyfriend will be really proud of you for staying busy and writing to him a lot. He'll miss you too and your letters will mean the world to him!
HI @melody...when is ur son graduating???mine is graduating soon so i am excited..i do have my downfalls but we get used to it..
My son is leaving for Boot Camp on March 5th and will be joining the Nuke program. Is there any other mom with sons leaving for bootcamp and going into the Nuke program about the same time?
Yes-my son is leaving March 4 and is also going into Nukes. He's been in DEP since last May and I had all this time to get ready for it, but now that it's here I'm starting to get a little emotional. It's really going to be hard to say goodbye but I'm really proud of him. I'm a little anxious too about BC, can't lie.
