@Travelgirl67 - my son arrived in GL on the 6th as well.. just got my mail today and still no letter. We got the box on the 8th. Where are you? We are in TX.
In TX as well...i know I am just being impatient, but while I am excite to hear about everyone and the milestones they have reached, I just thought that maybe I would have received my letter.

He departed the airport here in TX at 6pm....with a direct flight to Chicago, no delays, and I got my official, I'm here call around 1115 that night...so it is just me being impatient.

If paperwork or info was missing, that could be the reason for the delay. Graduation date I think depends on if they are in an accelerated unit or not (from what a former Navy friend of mine told me). Not sure if that is still accurate or not---she was in BC about 10 years ago. My son graduates 12-4. Stay strong. the letter will come.

my hubby found this facebook site for pir 12-4-15

Thank your husband for finding this. I'm awaiting for an admin to approve me.
How do we know when pir is? My son left on October 6,2015 too.

PIR is most likely 12/04/2015 and form letters are being received for that date. the average time to receive The Form Letter is still ten days. The holiday on Monday may have delayed that for some.  Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Any format letters yet??

CherriJo, did you get your letter yet?  Ours still hasn't arrived. We are in TX

I would love to say yes, but unfortunately no letter today either. We live in North Dakota!!

After reading about the Blue Candle, my hubby and I purchased one at Yankee Candle before dinner tonight. We went to a restaurant and lit the candle and wished our son and all the SRs continued strength of heart and mind. In a way, we were having dinner with him...at least in our minds.

I cried when I read this poem below. So now we have a blue candle that I will light every evening when I am home and on the weekends until he comes home.

On this site there is a page about it --this poem was on there:  http://navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/blue-candles

Blue Candle Poem

I will burn my blue candle, and hold my head high.

I will burn my blue candle, and try my best not to cry.

I will burn my blue candle, because he wasn't afraid to take on the world.

I will burn my blue candle, in honor of all those who fight.

I will burn my blue candle, for all those who may or may not be there at dawns early light.

I will burn my blue candle, for every holiday, birthday and anniversary.

I will burn my blue candle, and pray for our Soldiers and Sailors that God has mercy.

I will burn my blue candle, until he comes home.

I will burn my blue candle, so he knows he is never alone.
