Hi!  I officially became a Navy mom on Thursday and couldn't be more proud!  I am feeling so many emotions right now.  Would love to connect with other parents who have a DEP leaving 9/6/2012.  The best advice the recruiter gave me was to join NavyforMoms.com.  This website is awesome and a wealth of information!!!

My son is in a small school too. Maybe we can all keep in touch so we can help each other get through this rough time of seperation.

that would be great. this will be a journey of a life time for all of us.My son will be a CM (construction mechanic) SEEBEE after his A school.

Congratulations to you and your son!   I totally agree . . . .let's support each other during this huge transition in our lives.  You will find navyformoms.com a huge help.  This website is awesome and I already have many of my questions answered.  More importantly though is knowing that I am not the only mom out there that gets so emotional.  I have been crying off and on since the day he enlisted and I know the day we drop him off, is going to be the hardest thing I ever will do.  I am so proud of him and all the military but sad and scared at the same time.

My son's A school will be in San Antonio, TX and is going for Hospital Corpsman to eventually become a Combat Medic with the Fleet Marine Force.  A very good friend of ours was a SEEBEE during the Viet Nam war.  I am sure there is a SEEBEE group on this website that you can join.

Congratulations to you and your son!  It will be a very exciting and emotional experience for all of us.  My son comes from a small school too.  His best friend is a Marine recruit and leaves for boot camp June 26th, I believe.  Keep busy on Navy4Moms.com.  It is a wealth of information and has been a great support for me.  Enjoy your summer with your son.  Hope to hear from you again as that September date approaches :( .

yes there is a site for this and the listed A-schools. I told my sons recruiter that this is the best advice yet when he gave me this wed site to check. we all know that we are not alone and everyone is sharing the same feelings, thoughts and questions.

My son is leaving for BC September 6th as well.  There is confusion as to if he will leave from Kansas City or St. Louis (reuiter said one/people at MEPS said another).  Very excited for him.  Great Grandfather was in the Marines, Great Uncle was in the Air Force, Dad was in the Army.  Guess he felt the need to have all the braches covered in his family history.  lol

Congratulations!  My father was in the Navy and his other grandfather was in the Air Force.  If my dad was still alive, he would have been so proud of him but I know he will always be with him in spirit.  What does your son want to do in the Navy?  Mine is going for Hospital Corpsman so after PIR, he will be leaving right away for A school which is in San Antonio, TX.  It will be great if they get to know each other and also to meet you at PIR!

Mine will be a PACT Airman (he wants to work with aircraft).  He will go strait to a duty station (sorry if this is an army term, lol) right after BC.

Congratulations!   What does your son want to do in the Navy?

Sorry for the late response.  I do not know about those positions, however, if you go into the forums page or groups page and type in the search box,  boatswains or riverines, a slew of topics will come up.  I am sure you will find all your answers.  Let me know how you make out.  I don't know about you but the time seems to be flying by.  I attended some Memorial Day parades and cried at both of them!

My son is leaving Sept 11 for bc.  I know what you mean about so many emotions.  Pride, terror, knowing how hard of a choice this was , knowing he'll be so far away, but mostly confident it was a well thought out choice and that he will do well, me?  I'm investing in lots of tissues!

Congratulations to you and your son!   The time seems to be flying by now and my crying episodes are increasing.  I told him that there aren't enough tissues in the State of New York to dry my tears.  Having a surprise graduation/farewell party for him this Sunday.   I wonder if your son will graduate with my son?  Don't know how it works with everyone leaving on a different day.    What does your son want to do in the Navy?
