My son just got his date to leave for BC in October 2014. Haven't seen any posts since 2013 on this board. Looking for others that are finding there way here with same dates?

They fly out on Friday for the Thanksgiving TG, so yes, those who fly out get an extra day with their new Sailors. Those with Sailors who stay in GL get two extra days above the norm.

Wow, got a call last night from his recruiting officer. Moving his BC date to June! Yikes, I'm not ready for that! Good luck everyone, I'm moving to the June group!

My son has a ship date for boot camp on October 2. Glad I found this group...nice to meet everyone!

my daughter has a 10/1 ship date!

My daughter leaves for boot camp Oct 6th.  Glad I found this website. I can see that this will be very helpful.

My only child, my son will be leaving Oct. 7th for GL. Trying not to think about it. He graduates high school in 2 1/2 weeks. So that's been my focus for now. Happy for him but sad for me.

My son just signed his contract and is scheduled to leave Oct 27. Will be glad to connect with other loved ones.

My sons contract said Oct 29th - so it looks like they would be there at the same time?  I really don't understand much of any of the process.  Do you know if they only go in on certain days of the week or how it works.  I would love to find someone that I know would definitely be with him.  I sure hope its the case with your son.  Do you have any idea if they would be together with dates that close?

MEPS processes new recruits and ships them to the RTC on Monday through Thursday.  Your future Sailors could be in the same Training Group (TG) or in TG's a week apart since the 27th is a Monday and the 29th is a Wednesday. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

I haven't actually seen his contract yet, his recruiter will be mailing it soon. He did all this on his own (with frequent phone calls home LOL) while he was away at college. He graduated last weekend and signed his contract just a few days earlier! I guess we will have a better idea of what is happening the closer we get to the date. I am just trying to educate myself as best I can on my own and this site has been really helpful.

Hi Zaksmom! I believe my sons contract says the 29th also. I figure he'll leave home on the 28th to be at GL on the 29th.

My son leaves for BC October 8, 2014. I am making the most of the time we have together before he leaves. I am not sure if he will be home for Thanksgiving or not? also he will not be home for his birthday. )-: BUT I am blessed and so proud of him for his decision to serve our country. It is good to meet all of you.
