While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My daughter arrived on Monday night Sept th. I received her belongings today, but no letter. I wasn't expecting it till sometime next week.

My son arrived at GL very early on 9/9 for boot camp too. Received the scripted call around 1:45am. Received his box today from Fed Ex. I am proud of my son and excited for the new journey he will be taking. I am also sad because I will miss him terribly. He has been wanting to join for a long time. I think I was kind of in denial about it. Once I left MEPS on his ship out day, I cried all the way home. Sobbing, snotty nose kind of crying. Cried a lot that day. I thought I would cry when I got the box. Nope, I laughed as I thought, "yep he sent me back his dirty smelly clothes to wash." It's gotten better each day for me and only found myself getting a little teary eyed today. Looking forward to getting his address so I can get letters out to him. Also looking forward to going to PIRS.

Yes all the same here call was about 1:45 she sounded much different almost nervous. I received box today as well. I didn't do so well. I cried for hours. I am very proud of her I have been as involved as I could be with out be a smothering mom

My son left for boot camp 9/9 too. I got a call around 10pm and I again started crying. I know i can't protect him from the world forever. I made a promise to work out reminding myself he is doing the same. I can't walk right now due to pain. I am sure he would get a good laugh out of my funny walk.

I too made a promise to myself to work out. I did get a couple walks in but that's it. Gotta step it up!

My son left on 9/9 also. This is really hard. I miss him, but I know it is a really good thing. Thank goodness for family and friends

My son arrived 9/10 which was my 20th anniversary. Got my phone call that night. He said he would call again in 3 weeks.

I've been reading a lot around here. Good to know I'm not the only mom crying. Friday I didn't shed one tear and thought maybe I had gotten it all out of my system. Nope. Today I did some cleaning through my sons room a little and out came the tears again as I found his favorite childhood stuffed animal. So sappy because of a dumb toy! I expect the form letter to arrive later next week. I'm thinking his PIR will be 11/7. We shall see. Hang in there moms!

I sure hope for all of us we stop crying soon. My head and my heart are in a battle. I know my head will win but the battle isnt fun. As of all of us the seperation from our children is hard but we have all done something right cause our kids have made a selfless decision to serve our country.

Had a hard weekend. Little motivation to do anything and cried a lot. My goal for today is NO crying. I know this whole transition is not about me. It's about my son moving on in life and I am very proud and excited for him. You're right sweetpea, the battle between the head and heart isn't fun. Time will help and we will get through this heartache.
