Best Airports for PIR 02/07/14?

Any ideas for which is best for 2/7/14? We are flying from Florida, renting a car and have never seen snow, much less driven in it. Southwest is cheaper to Milwaukee than Midway. My thinking is with Milwaukee's drive being a straight shot on the interstate that the roads may be cleared better but I really don't know how all that works. Please don't laugh but we don't even know what to wear and pack, like shoes and stuff. Therefore any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, we are arriving on the Wed. before and staying till Sunday so any must see sights and suggestions will also be helpful.

Milwaukee to the base is easier and no tolls either...but you having never driven in snow I would not recommend you rent and drive a car.  I would recommend you get a cab and take the cabs or shuttles places while you are vising your Sailor.   You can take the train down town Chicago for a few $ as I would NOT recommend driving down town, the drive is a pain in the !@# and the cost for parking is high

Packing and what to wear...long pants, long sleeves, boots, no heels, no open toed shoes, no tang tops, no shorts, heavy jackets, sweaters and sweat shirts.

Hi, Congratulations on your up and coming Graduation. This sight has been a life savor for me. Even though I don't talk a lot, reading everybodies questions and answers help.

Being I have lived my entire life in Central Wisconsin my advice is - layers, dress for warmth and comfort not fashion. Practical , comfortable shoes, boots would be best. Don't laugh but long johns (growing up that's what we called them) now a days they call them cuddle bugs - check out stores like Scheel's or Gander Mountain for these for men and women.

Warm hats, and good mittens and warm scarf is very important. Chicago is very windy and Great Lakes is unbelievable.

Since your flying use space bags to bring your warm cloths (helps with space). My Daughter lives in Houston, Tx so I am used to going through temp changes in one day.

While you are staying in your hotel be prepared for feeling really dry, because of the heat. Drink a lot of water and lotion your skin.

Since you have never driven in snow I guess cabs and trains would be the best. If you really need to drive, give yourself lots of extra time, drive slowly.

Oh and because of the extreme cold be real careful with your cell phones, not everybody realizes how the cold takes a toll on your phone. Cameras too.

Milwaukee is a very nice airport and easy to get in and out off.  I would stay away from Midway if at all possible.  Dress warm because our weather has been crazy in Illinois lately.  We were below zero for several days and tonight it's pouring rain and everything is a sheet of ice.  Good luck:)
