Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Boot Camp

Hello.  My first time on this web site.  My son has been gone for 8 days now and it is so quiet at our house!  I really miss him alot.  Does it get better?  We got his box and we got his papers about his graduation ceremony.  Any suggestions on where to stay?

The Form Letter will come anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks after you get "The Box".  That usually comes within the first week after he leaves.  You can also check with the Recruiter 3 days after he leaves and the Recruiter MAY have an address for you.  If the address includes a Ship number and a Division number that is only 3 digits long, then it is most likely the correct address.  If the Division number has four digits, then wait a couple more days and ask again if you haven't gotten the Form Letter because the Division has not formed and although that address will get letters to your Recruit, it may be delayed and arrive later than letters mailed once you have the correct address from the Form Letter.  If your Recruit uses an address that is different from the one given you by the Recruiter or on the Form Letter, change over to it because letters sent to that address will get to him the fastest.

I got my first letter within two weeks.  He was allowed to write on Sundays and I received my letters on Wednesdays.  About half way through boot camp, they let him write on Sundays and Tuesdays.  You can get his address off the envelope when he writes, or if you call the recruiting office, they can probably get it for you.

I called my son's recruiting cheif.  He gave it to me but it took almost a week to get it.  He was very nice and told me if I had any questions to call him any time.  I thought that was great.  Then a few days later we got our form letter about PIR!  My son wrote a short note on the back of that and now I am just patiently waiting for a real letter.

Here are some things you will want to be taking care of in the next month.  Don’t drop your Future Sailor’s health insurance until after PIR.  Yes, he is covered from the day he goes to the RTC, but if something happens and he is sent home, he may have trouble getting health insurance.  You also need to talk to your Future Sailor and decide if you need a Power of Attorney and a Medical Power of Attorney.  Also discuss how you will handle sharing any bad news—in a letter or wait (my suggestion is to wait until after PIR).  Be sure that cell phone service is suspended during BC and that arrangements have been made for you to cover any bills your Future Sailor may have—you may want to have a bank account linked to your account so you can take care of bills.

Hi! My first time on this site as well. My daughter has been at boot camp for 10 days now.Missing her like crazy!  Even with my other kids at home, my house is quieter. (I think I just miss hearing her voice!)  I cried for 36 hours the day she left, still get very emotional at times. I think about her constantly.  We were lucky enough to get our first call from her today! totally unexpected and almost missed it! She had said it wouldn't come for about 3 weeks, but her division won a phone call from their RDC's.  AWESOME! Wasn't nearly enough time, but it will do for now! The form letter we got had a brochure in it with hotels listed. the Recruit Training Command's FB page can get you alot of info as well.

Her division must be shaping up nicely to earn a call this soon.  Hopefully, that will mean that you will get quite a few calls.
