Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My daughter graduated and two days later I watched her get on a van to head off to her new future. The hardest part for me is the lack of communication(oh I know why). But this is what she wanted and in a while I will adjust.
Yes I am a new Navy dad and this is the best site for information.

Hi all and thanks for the replies. I just recieved a letter from my daughter and it was short and sweet. She is adjusting to to Navy life and is in a marching band there. The PIR date may be off so I will wait until the next letter. I have written 3 and won't send "too" many but enough that she has mail.
Yes I am very proud of her and let her know it.

It is hard letting go. I remember wishing the years away and now I am wanting them back. It is hard to not have communication when you are used to at least a text here and there throughout the day. I am sure they are all doing well and learning new skills. Hang in there.

My daughter was in her 3rd year of college when she announced she was going to join the Navy. She was a DEP for a year, and we've had time to prepare. I'm so happy that she is following her dreams, but at the same time, I hate to see her leave. I will miss her with all my heart....beginning June 14th.

My daughter did the same thing. But we focused on her education as she was. A bachlor and 3 minors. Well the elation turned into a vacumn. Hard to explain and the no contact is rough. Yes it is only for a few weeks, but not having that littlte communication there is hard. But as mentioned above by marine navy mom, my phrase to her;
Iam proud of you and I love you. That starts and ends each letter. Good luck to you and I will check in to see how she is doing. Chin up mom.

My son did the same thing 3rd year of college came home at Christmas and announced he wasn't going back. I think he has made a decision that is great for him. Good Luck to your daughter and to you come Monday. Enjoy your weekend with her.

I know exactly how you feel. Helpless!!! My son is 614 miles away and I can't get to him when I want. I guess we all go through boot camp when this happens.

My son left July 6th for BC and I just received a quick phone call last night at 10:00....now I wait for his address so we can start sending mail and pictures to keep his spirits up. Good Luck!
