For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I was wondering if parents are able to receive tours of the Base?

It would be nice to see the base, especially if our recruits could give a quick tour. I bet the museum will be interesting also.

Should we be there at graduation at 6:30 in the morning? What do you do until you can go in? Does any one have any suggestions? It would be nice to know what to expect. We are taking a shuttle I think from our hotel. Our son is a grad and go, he will leave Sat. at noon. Can we spend time with hime before he leaves?

We just got back from graduation. The earlier you arrive at the base, the better choice of seats you get. Be prepared to stand in line to get through security and then again when checking for your grad and verifying ID's. It is very boring waiting for the actual ceremony to begin.
Our son was also Grad n go. We got to spend about 5 minutes with our son after graduation and then he had to leave to go sign in at the base. His "A" school was in Great Lakes. After about 3 hours, we got a call that he now had Liberty, and he was granted weekend Liberty(no reporting back to base in the evening), so we got to spend the rest of our trip with him.

Thank you, it helps hearing from someone who has been there. I guess we will be there early. Is it better to take the hotel shuttle or the car we rented? I am glad to hear from you and congradulation to you and your son

We had a rental car and drove. It wasn't too bad. Have to have a little bit of patience.

PagadMom.....my son's "A" school is also in Great Lakes and his PIR is 4/9. Am I right in understanding your son did NOT have to report back to base at night? He was able to stay with you? I wonder if this is a possibility for my son???

Correct. He was able to spend the night with us. He did have to call in two times.

Yup. You should be at the gates at 6:30. If you wait till later, there is a LONG line, waiting to get in the ONE gate. Then you wait some more to get through security. It's a lot of hurry up and wait, but not as much as your grad is going through! Grad and go's time with families can vary. He will know when you see him. Have a super time!
