Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My husband is headed to chicago for bootcamp as I write this (07/16/2014). I'm so proud/happy/nervous/excited! I would love to connect with other SOs/Moms that have someone shippping today as well.

My son left on the 10th of July I think his graduation is either on sept. 5th or 12th. Not sure but I miss him soooo much.

I got my 23 second phone call tonight. Sad, sad, sad. My baby boy is really gone. I am looking forward to meeting parents from his division once I find out what that is. I think a smaller group would be more helpful to me. Boot camp roll call seems like a place where you can post something but there are so many members that everybody is posting and nobody is replying. Does anyone else feel this way? It is like thinking you are walking into a support group and realizing you just walked into the Superdome! It is so crowded but you still feel alone.

I also felt same way. It is helpful though to read the posts-even if noone replies, I see so many of us feel the same way. Proud, nervous, sad and happy at the same time. It takes courage for these young men and women to decide to serve and leave their home, family, friends and jobs behind. I have felt every emotion and only learned my only son was going 4 weeks ago. He was in DEP and knew his date for a very long time. I felt blindsided and left out of one of the most important journeys of his life. But I pulled myself together and pushed through my feelings to simply show him encouragement and support as the time came too quickly for him to leave. He arrived GL yesterday-7/15/14. I will survive this and more importantly I want him to make it.

My Son flew out today. We got the I'm here call 44 seconds from his cell around 11.10 tonight 7/16/14 He sounded fine I was glad We had watched the video about the phone call etc. I knew he only had a few seconds. My husband and I are happy now. I am so sad inside though missing him.

For those getting ready to leave--make sure they take cell phone. My son arrived at GL for bootcamp (yesterday) Tuesday, 7//15/14. He took his phone and was able to text us from Meps, "sworn into the United States Navy!" Oh how I wish we'd seen that. He got to call me, dad and anyone else he wanted after swearing in. then texted from Richmond airport and called when arrived Chicago. got his "scripted" call at 11:00 last night.hard to understand since lot of background noise. So was glad to have talked to him prior to that. We're so proud and now it begins...his new life in the Navy!

son "shipper" left 7/16 .... got my "i'm here" call at 8:47 pm. sooo proud..... have been on an emotional rollercoaster for sure.... much love to my son and thanks to all wonderful sons and daughters for choosing to serve our country. God Bless

I recieved my package yesterday but I wasn't home so I have to go pick it up today. I just miss my son sooooo much. i just want to hear his voice.
