My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since. I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way. I never thought it would be this difficult. I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever. He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it? I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for. Anyone else feel like that?

Yes Marlena, I understand exactly how you feel and my son is my middle child. All I can suggest is when you think of him and tears began to flow that you pray for strength and for him. I started a daily journal in addition to the letters that I have been writing to my son (I 'm waiting for his mailing address so I can send them : ) and this has been good therapy for me when I don't have anyone to talk to. Also, today I just received my son's clothes via mail. Although my son has been in boot camp is for 3 days it seems like the days are going by sOOooooo slow. I miss him so much. I have been crying daily. I will be glad when his day of graduation comes.
My son left Tuesday and I'm feeling exactly the same way. These sites seem to make it a bit better since we all have the same concerns/questions. Please feel free to contact me anytime!
My son arrived on the 12th.. I am thinking his PIR will be 16th of March..Was hoping for the 9th.. What are your thoughts.
My son left on the 18th. How do I figure out approxiamate PIR date?
JT's Mama more than likey your PIR will be March 16...give or take a week. You can call the recruiter for the temporary address (may be different from the form letter address) If I were you I'd join the PIR 3/9 group for info and support...read the discussions. I'll leave the link
Thank you so much! We are scheduled to leave for a cruise on April 8 and I am concerned this will need to be changed.
oh no...that cruise date should be fine. Also join the groups for his job and A school
So, the box arrived today. Pant legs rolled up like I read somewhere else. You could tell he was quickly undressing because of inside out t-shirt and socks. Phone in one shoe and ipod in a small backpack he drags everywhere. I know the form letter will follow and I'm anxious to receive it so we know his PIR date.
I have a question about his mailing address. He has many friends and I'm sure some would like to write to him. Do you think it would be OK to post the address on his Facebook wall so his friends can see it? I don't want him to get in trouble with his RDC if they somehow found it posted--his account should be private for friends and family only, but not sure.
If I were you I'd just message the addy to his friends. What is his division #.
Not sure of his div# yet. He left the 18th and just received the box today. I'm FB friends with some of his friends. Maybe I'll have them spread the address around.
