My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since. I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way. I never thought it would be this difficult. I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever. He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it? I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for. Anyone else feel like that?
Good Morning Navy Mom's I have a question about mail. I just received the letter from my son with his address last week and I have been writing letters everyday. Do they get the mail everyday or do they just get all their mail on one day like on a Saturday or Sunday.
T-Los...they get mail every day but on Sunday and Holidays. I think their first mail call is on a Sunday(not sure) but after that it's just like us. At first they can only write letters on Sun but later (week 4 or so) they can write on Tue and Thurs.
Be sure to read the info in the discussion forum in your PIR group.....lots of info. You will need to click on View All and go back to page 1.
When they are allowed to write outside of Sundays, they still can't mail their letters so Wednesday or Thursday will continue to be the only day you can hope for a letter (depending on where you live). The one letter may be more of a journal written over several days which is great. We only had one exception and that was our son's second-to-the-last week of BC when they were allowed to mail a letter on Thursday (I think) so we'd have it before we left for PIR.
By the way, my hubby always laughed at the way I'd rush home on Wednesdays to read our son's latest letters; however, my hubby almost never stops at the mailbox to grab the mail EXCEPT when our son was in BC. During those 8 weeks, the mail suddenly became very important to him too! :)
