My daughter arrived in Chicago last night....anyone else out there whose son/daughter arrived in Chicago yesterday?

My son also arrived last night.....lots of emotions going on here with me. Can't stop thinking about him. He went from being so ready, to not ready at all. He was on the DEP and his life changed a lot since he signed up, making it tougher for him to go. I know it is what is best, but I can't help but wonder how he is doing. Good luck to you and your daughter!
My son called from Great Lakes, Wed 1 am. He said they flew into Chicago at 11:59pm Tuesday night. I was glad he called but the phone call was so short. I can't wait to get his address so I can start sending him letters. I guess the next thing is hoping for another phone call in the next few weeks. My husband and I watched a video on You Tube about Navy Boot Camp and what goes on. I liked knowing what he has to accomplish while he is there. Those 4am wake ups I'm sure are tough!.
My son Michael arrived in Chicago on June 7th 2010. He's in his 5th day, I got the 30 second phone call, which was really hard, but I know he's ok and he's going to do well. If you want to talk, feel free to connect with me, I know this new experiance is so hard for us as parents, and another Mom to talk to would help me tremendously.
I know exactly how you feel. Its hard to put into words how much you miss them and want to know what they are going thru. I hope we get the mailing address soon!
My daughter arrived at Great Lake around 7:00 p.m. on June 8. My husband was an ET in the Navy from 1985 - 1991. Things have really changed alot since then. Our daughter was much more informed than when he went in. He (my husband) had NO clue as to what he was getting into or what was to take place. There was of course no on-line chatting with other family members. There were no cell phones. (She was able to text us all along the way to let us know where she was during the day of processing and travel.) We too have watched the videos about boot camp. My husband said the base has greatly improved since he was there. (He did A school during the winter at Great Lakes after completing Boot Camp in Florida during the summer. Most activities were done outside.)

That being said, let me also add that when it was finally time for us to say goodbye, he, my husband, cried like a baby. It was a very quiet ride home after dropping my daughter off to leave for boot camp. When she called to say she had arrived, he could hardly speak. She sounded very upbeat and most reassuring. I know this is going to be tough, but I believe it is going to be a great experience for them. I think the Navy has done a great job through the DEP program preparing these kids so much more for what they are about to encounter.

I have to admit, I went to the card store today to purchase stationary and a few "encouragement" cards for when that address comes. That kind of made ME feel a little better.anyway.
My Son arrived on Wed. 6.9.10 when should I expect to get his mailing address? I started writing him his first day gone and can't wait to mail them to him?
Hey Jordan's Mom,

As I stated earlier, our daughter arrived at GL on 6-8-10. We received "the box" this morning. I have heard of some Moms that got "the box" one day and their letter the very next day. Some Moms said that they did not receive their letter until a week later. From what I understand, it could come any day. I bet you get your box tomorrow.
