If she tells them she is willing to ship early you need to know it could be with a short notice. My son was to leave in March of 2005. He signed up in December 2004. In January of 2005 he got a call on a Wednesday asking him to ship out either Friday of that week (2 days away) or Monday (the beginning of the next week). He knew he had plans for the weekend so told them he would go MOnday. I was excited for him to begin this chapter but wasn't quite ready to say good bye. He left that Monday the end of January and has been in since then and looking to reenlist for 6 more.
Even once she gets to a ship you could get a call by mom love you talk to you later. Haven't gotten that yet from my son but did a time or two from my husband as his sub headed out.
Just keep breathing and make sure she keeps you up to date on what is going on. She is excited to get going. December seems like forever. One way to look at it is if she leaves early then she would get to her next school early and it could mean you could visit her for the holidays.
Good luck to you all.
Hey there Denise,
I am really ok with her shipping out early i totally support her decision and i know that she is anxious and ready to start the next chapter in her life.her dad was just hurt cause he wasnt gonna be here to see her off.we just wanted more than a 6 hr notice. The only reason that it was a short notice like that is because the girl that was suppose to leave well she got pregnant.I am really excited about her choices and am so ready for her to experience this part of her life.Thank you so much for taking the time to write. Her recruiter did say that it will prolly be befor the end of this month though.
Your Friend,
Tonya
