hi! i just got out of BC if you have more questions please feel free to ask...

in regards to a school this is how it works, he will be able to see his orders two weeks prior PIR. On the orders he will be given an estimated date where he needs to report, most of the time is between one  or two weeks after PIR. The reality is(important for you if you are going to the graduation) that he will report right after graduation and you are going to wait for about 3 to 4 hours while he  is  being processed then he will go on liberty until 2000 or 2100 on that friday and whole day saturday and sunday!.

While on a school you will be able to be in contact with him a fair amount of time and the liberty has to be earned and it can take up toa month or so until he gets full liberty. After liberty he can request between 10 to 14 days of leave.

In regards of BC, he will sent u a letter with his division and ship numbers, his mailing address and the date of graduation plus some other important stuff. He can  start recieving mail around week one (week 2) and the first phone call should be around week 2 (week 3), the phone call can last between 15 mins to 45 mins it depends on the RDC and if his div.is behaving good. the second phone call would be 2 or 1 day before graduation.

Write him  a lot! that helps!

For your info: the worst is P days Week and after week for it gets easier.

For him: IBOPRUFEN AND ICE SOLVE EVERYTHING.

Only the technical rates who need to know basic electronics go to ATT.  EM is one of those rates, and they also go to BECC from what I've seen.  I'll double-check.

Unlikely that the length of the A school will be in the form letter.

I've been digging in the old comments in the engineering and other groups... 12 weeks or 15, either way, he's going to be longer than that.  Honestly, when it comes to A school, you can't count on what the basic numbers on paper say to try and guess when he'll be home on leave afterwards.  It doesn't work that way, which is tough because you have a due date.  He doesn't. He may even have to wait for orders after graduating.

I know the last thing you want to hear is there's no exact answers at this point, but there aren't, just general estimates based from the experiences of those who have gone before.  The school seat times are bare bones, the A school training pipeline is fleshed out with a ton of hurry up and wait.

You may also want to ask on the TSC FB page about the true length of EM school:

https://www.facebook.com/TrainingSupportCenterGreatLakes

Hang in there!

I looked in the groups also for both the length of the "A" School and about ATT and didn't find either.  Oh, well, some things can be left up to the Saiors to tell their loved ones.

Thats a real bummer. b/c he should be graduating from BC the first week of dec. so you dont think he will be home by the 1st week or even 2nd week of march? I guess I`m just going to have to learn to be patient. but what does he do if he is just waiting for orders but is done with school? just hanging out or do they give him stuff to do? Thank you for that fb page I`m going to check it out.

If he ends up staying after "A" School waiting on orders, then he is in holding again and will have watches and other duties to do.  For now, think about BC and PIR on either 11/30/2012 or the week after.
