they get to go with a organization or if another sailor want to adopt him they can but dead line is soon or they have a good meal on base

From the RTC FB page:

Recruits who do not have families adopting them that day will be adopted by local civic organizations such as VFWs, American Legions and churches. These groups of volunteers do fundraising year-round to be able to host anywhere from 25 to 200 recruits in a single location for the day. They are treated to a traditional holiday feast, movies and video games, computer time and most importantly of all — phone usage so they may make multiple calls during the day to loved ones and friends.

No recruit eligible to participate in the Adopt-A-Sailor program will be left behind for the holiday. Recruits who are set back in training, put on hold, or sick in quarters and no longer a part of their original eligible division will then become ineligible to participate. They will not be allowed to be adopted.

All other recruits in the non-eligible training groups will remain on base and have holiday routine and a traditional holiday dinner in their galley. Unfortunately, they all cannot possibly be granted phone calls on any given holiday as there simply is not enough phone time nor phones to allow the 5,000+ of them all to do so. Do not expect to get a phone call from your recruit just because it is a holiday.

No Recruit at RTC is ever alone. That's what shipmates are for.

Indeed.  No one is alone at RTC.   He'll get a good meal for sure, and can go to church if he chooses. And that is if his division isn't adopted by an organization.  The SRs are well looked after on the holidays.
