Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It is true, A schools go into stand down and they are allowed to take leave. The dates have not been released, but the 22nd should be fine. Be sure to line up all the paperwork he needs to take back with him to get you in his record as a dependent and to get your ID card. He should ask personnel there what they will want to see, and ask early enough to get it all in hand. A power of attorney can't hurt either.

Emily - You shouldn't have a problem at all. The school houses close during Christmas. In the Navy, it's called "holiday routine". Worst case scenario, he can always put in an "Out of Bounds" request chit to allow him to go home for the weekend (if you're outside the 300 mile range).
btw: you should actually also post this in this group. They have lots of answers for Hospital Corpsman stuff....
